Choriocytosis is a virus that affects the ability of blood cells to carry oxygen to the body's organs. It is known to affect both Humans and Vulcans.
- While Humans are minimally affected, the virus is extremely deadly to Vulcans.
Copper-based patients
In any being that has copper-based blood, such as Vulcans, this disease is fatal. A highly contagious infection surrounds blood cells, making them unable to carry oxygen.
Symptoms include anxiety, extreme fatigue, dizziness, cyanosis (discoloration of the skin resulting from poor circulation or inadequate oxygenation of the blood), trouble breathing, increased pulse, and coma.
Strobolin, a naturally occurring drug found on only a few planets, can treat the disease, but without it, the patient will die in the first 24-72 hours.
