Biology, sometimes referred to as bioscience or the life sciences, is the scientific study of living organisms (or lifeforms) and their vital processes.
Individuals who study biology are referred to as Biologists.
The study of alien lifeforms is called exobiology.
Biologists study life at multiple levels of organization. One could study the molecular biology of a cell, or the anatomy and physiology of plants and animals. There are multiple subdisciplines within biology, each defined by the nature of their research questions and the tools that they use. Like other scientists, biologists use the scientific method to make observations, pose questions, generate hypotheses, perform experiments, and form conclusions about the enviornment around them.
