|History=Was in Star Fleet academy once but quit due his fathers death and because his mother needed someone to look after her for a few years, his brother stayed on and graduated early. Grew up on Deep space 3 and 6 due to fathers’ duties aboard the USS Thunderchild. He was sometimes singled out in his school because he kept moving between deep space 3 and 6, but people there eventually accepted him, though he had always had his brother to talk to and play with as a child. After his father was killed his mother settled down on Earth to be as far away from where they used to live to keep old memories lock away. Paul went back to where his mother was after quitting Star Fleet and stayed there for a few years. Then he realized that if he ever wanted to forget about his father's death he would have to do something. He asked for a position in security as that was what his father wanted him to do when he was young.<br />
He was demoted whilst on shoreleave due, after getting into a fight with a Klingon over something which after he thought about it was quite trivial. Rather than continuing after this incident, he took a leave of absence from Star Fleet, officially to care for his mother who was quite ill on earth. Though it also gave him time to take a break and relax, as he believed the main reason for the fight with the Klingon was merely stress. But he returned to Star Fleet soon after to start fresh on the Philadelphia, back as a DH on a much smaller ship
