The Reciprocity is assigned to covertly observe a pre-warp planet, "Urth". The ship is unexpectedly caught in an EM pulse that forces them to crash land on the planet, forcing them to make first contact with the locals. What starts out as a standard mission, turns out to be a training and testing simulation for Star Fleet Intelligence's newest recruits.
