|History=R’Minn was born and raised on Cait with his brother and sisters. While he is a twin to his brother, he felt some measure of additional responsibility and liked to constantly point out that he was the eldest, if only by a handful of minutes. Like most Caitians his hearing gives him an advantage in detecting subtle nuances in spoken languages that most people miss or hear only subconsciously. As a young child, his parents sought to lead him into linguistics or some related field. R’Minn was not interested in the field and sought studies in other areas.
At a young age, R’Minn realized that his began spending many hours of the day with his paternal grandfather who was a local security officer. This exposure convinced R’Minn that there were other uses for his both his hearing and his agility. As a result, and despite his parents’ protests he pursued various courses in school that would lead him into a career in law enforcement.
As R’Minn was making final preparations for his entrance into a law enforcement training academy, he met and became friends with a human Starfleet security officer who had been invited to teach at the academy. That friendship changed R’Minn’s life and caused him to begin looking away from Cait for his future. As a result, he decided instead to join Starfleet, taking and passing the entrance exam.
At Starfleet Academy, R’Minn’s agility and hunter’s instinct helped him to become one of the top ranked students in many of his physical classes, just as his hearing and night-vision often gave him an advantage during his tactics training. He found though that he was forced oftentimes to study much more than he liked for his primarily academic classes.
After graduation from Starfleet Academy, R’Minn served in various assignments that he felt did not challenge his skills. While he excelled at what he did, he constantly felt the pull for something more. When the opportunity arose, he requested and received a transfer to the USS Copernicus under the command of Jaden Hawk.
