The ''Odyssey-class is one the largest vessels ever created by Star Fleet. Its massive size makes it very resilient, but its manoeuvrability is limited by the bulk of the vessel. The Odyssey-class's unique split saucer pylon reduces subspace wake at higher warp speeds, but delayed the prototype entering production for several years. The Odyssey-class ' is designed as an extreme long-range vessel, and can operate for long periods a type of time away from support. Because of this, it is the most versatile cruiser ever developed by the Star Fleet Corps of Engineers. It has been touted as Federation starship that was the pinnacle of Federation starship design and will would carry the Federation Starfleet into a new generation of explorationin the late 24th century and well into 25th century. The OdysseyIt was designed to be a dreadnought and an explorer. It is one of the largest starships created by Starfleet, surpassing even the ''Galaxy-class Development Project was based '' in San Francisco Fleet Yards size, in Earth orbitorder to effectively compete with the larger Battleships and Dreadnoughts fielded by the Dominion and Romulan Star Empire.
