| Friends=Kris' cousin and tennis partner Mitch Dunn, who encouraged him to become an instructor.
| History=Kris was born into a very happy and healthy family home in Adelaide, Australia. His father brought him up to be kind and understanding of others, but this lead to Kris being too relaxed and friendly, often finding errors coming out of school work , or personal problems due to his lack of focus or seriousness. When his grandfather died from alcohol poisoning, Kris swore to never touch a drop from that point ononwards, so effected affected was he by the death of the great Grandpa Jarota, who had been the kingpin of a good times during his jolly life. Kris' parents were teachers themselves, encouraging the kids to take part in sports and educating them on fitness and wellbeingwell-being.
As a result, Kris was athletic and interested in sports himself, primarily tennis since his cousin Mitch introduced him to it. The pair became great friends as they played together regularly.
By the time Kris was in his twenties, his parents were encouraging him to see the galaxy and make a name for himself, taking the Jarota family name beyond Adelaide. There was no better place for this than Starfleet, where he quickly enrolled as a Security cadet fascinated in all things forensic and the tactics of battle. He'd never been a fighter himself, quite the opposite in fact, he was more of a diplomat and counsellor but he saw it as a great opportunity to change his life forever. Eventually he was assigned to the USS Kingston, a small exploration vessel, along with several other very nervy Midshipmen.
Kris' time onboard was fruitful, aiding the other officers who had joined with him with their hopes and fears. By the time he reached Lieutenant Junior Grade, he was the ship's acting Counsellor, by appointment of the Captain. Those dedicated to job and serious in their approach found him unbearable almost never fully focussed on the gravity of any given situation. As a result the Captain decided that the young Lieutenant position was elsewhere, telling him in a one to one meeting that, whilst his help was invaluable, his mind was not on the job. After such serious words from his own CO, Kris sought the advice of someone else for a change, eventually finding solace in the words of his best friend on a day of shore leave.
