Approximately 300 years ago, the various countries of the J'Shashians united to form a global government.
In 24222402, the [[USS Philadelphia, FSV-66053|Philadelphia]] visited [[Jateran]] in order to investigate the warp signatures coming from the planet. This was Star Fleet's first contact with the J'Shashians.
They discovered a planet in the middle of a crisis, literally tearing itself apart from intense tectonic activity. In the ensuing chain of events, a young [[memoryalpha:Crystalline Entity|Crystalline Entity]] emerged from the "dead" hemisphere of the planet. A Tholian task force arrived to escort the Entity away from the planet. At the same time, the Defense Minister led an unsuccessful coup attempt to depose the High Regent.
