| History= Tala's life started off in a tranquil setting, when he parents decided to go camping in the mountain surrounding their village, just before Dena was due. Dena was setting up camp and Yuma went to find firewood. While away, Yuma turned to see a beautiful white wolf standing only a few feet from him. Neither of them move until Dena cried out with labor pains, but when Yuma looked back the wolf had vanished. They knew then her name had to be Tala, meaning wolf. Tala's family has always held on to their Native beliefs, and so when a wolf showed up in the camp they knew it was Tala's spirit guide. Tala was only six at the time but the wolf was patient with her, but would whine when she would leave for school. So she named him Tate, meaning 'he who talks too much'.
At age 13, Tala's aunt and uncle that lived a few states away were tragically murdered. Her uncle was later found out to be involved with money embezzling, which led to his partner growing greedy and killing him off so he could have all of the money. They left behind three boys, Sam (15), Eric(13), and Devon(10), who came to live on the reservation with Tala and her family. The small log home they all shared seemed cramped and since Eric was her age they shared a bedroom. They became best friends and shared all their secrets with each other. Eric was even involved in a local marital arts class that Tala wasn't allowed to attend but Eric taught her all the moves he knew. They spent many evenings in the mountains around the village practicing, until Tala surpassed even her cousin in skill. The only bad memory of their time together was the day they got to close to a cliff edge and Tala fell into the water below. Luckily, Eric was a strong swimmer and drove in after her, but it left her with a fear of water.
On a classes trip, at age 17, they took a school field trip to the academy and Tala fell in love with everything about the academy. She had lived an isolated life in her mountain home and this was her chance to get out and see what was beyond Earth. When she saw demonstrations from Security instructors she knew which field she was going to choose. Tala had always enjoyed the idea of serving justice, and this seemed the best way to do it. At the end of the tour, they had a sign up sheet for an instructor to contact parents to further discuss joining the academy. Tala pushed past her fears and signed the sheet. When her father received the call he was shocked and angry but always had a soft spot for his daughter and gave in.
