- October 12 – The second Chinese human spaceflight Shenzhou 6 launched carrying Fèi Jùnlóng and Niè Hǎishèng for five days in orbit.
- October 27 – The SSETI Express micro-satellite, the first spacecraft to be designed and built by European students, is successfully launched from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome.

- In a non-canon reference work, Spaceflight Chronology, 2005 is referenced as when the first "spacechild" was born at the Farside Moonbase. This first Human to be born on the moon was heralded the world over as a new generation of history.
