The USS Valley Forge, CA-1996 is a Fearless-class Heavy cruiser.

Lineage

The USS Valley Forge is named for the Revolutionary War battle field, of that same name, located 40 km west of Philadelphia. Valley Forge was the campground of 11,000 troops of George Washington's Continental Army, from December 19, 1777 to June 19, 1778. Because of the suffering endured there by the hungry, poorly clothed, and badly housed troops, 2,500 of whom died during the harsh winter, Valley Forge came to symbolize the heroism of the American revolutionaries. Despite adverse circumstances, Baron Friedrich von Steuben drilled the soldiers regularly and improved their discipline, acting as a testament that those who believe in something strongly enough, can achieve anything. Today the historic landmarks and monuments are preserved within Valley Forge Historical Park (established 1976).

Valley Forge was removed from active service pending major refit following her mission to Elteban III. Her entire crew transferred to the USS Gettysburg for the duration of her refit, Valley Forge was destroyed in her shipyard berth shortly after initiation of the Armageddon Directive, during the Borg Invasion of Sector 001.
