Personal History

Born in a litter of four on Cait, M'Rour grew up like any other kitten, spending summers romping in the fields and meadows.

Most of Caitian culture is focused on the arts and philosophy, but someone still has to grow crops and service livestock, and M'Rour grew up in one of these farming communities where she learned from the elders how to maintain crop harvesters and processing machinery.

When she came of age, she applied to join Starfleet Academy where after her four years of studying, she graduated first in class in her preferred area of engineering. However her initial first choice of ship she applied for, the Avenger Class USS Agincourt was not available, and so she was assigned to the Sun-Tzu Class Destroyer USS Hastings where she spent her early career posted out on the rim of known space.

Aboard the Hastings, she was part of an away mission that helped to irrigate a desert planet which was on the brink of famine. The crew of the Hastings managed to bring water deep from subterranean cavers to the surface. M'Rour as with many Caitians, had an inherent fear of water, but had to overcome it to a small degree and spend a night up to her waist in water while they installed the rising mechanism. If she hadn't been wearing a full environment suit she might not have faired so well. As it was, she was deemed highly stressed on their return by the ships Doctor, and was given an extended furlough along with a promotion to Ensign for her services.

Upon reaching the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, she applied for an opening aboard the USS Caesar another Sun-Tzu, but one assigned nearer the core systems. Aboard the Caesar, she attained the rank of full lieutenant when she managed to save the ship by connecting the deflector array to the shield grid and used a collimated neutron stream from a dying micro universe to fortify the output, thus preventing the ship being compacted to the size of a golf ball.

Transferring to USS Ozaki and given the rank of full Lieutenant, M'Rour was also elevated to the position of Chief Engineer.

Initially she was supposed to lead the primary landing party, but a conflict between her and the security team leader resulted in her being ejected from the party before the shuttle was despatched. This however turned out to be the better scenario as the ship at the same moment struck a mine and her skills were better suited in remaining aboard.

The ship however had to make planet fall, and the engineering staff were pushed to their limits as the Ozaki put down in open water and began to flood. M'Rour was briefly incapacitated on impact, but somehow the planet's natural metaphasic properties (via an emergency transport) healed her and gave her briefly the ability to once again overcome her fear of water as she and one other attempted to save a trapped crewman from a flooded section. The rescue was unsuccessful as the crewman was eaten by local sealife moments away from rescue. The ship however did make it back to orbit under its own power before local seismic activity had a chance to destroy them, and returned to base for repairs.

M'Rour was awarded a Commendation, and promoted to Lieutenant Commander. It was also around this time she received the news that her sister had been accepted to the fleet.

Just before launch of their next mission, it was discovered that the metaphasic properties of the planet had had another effect on the Caitain. M'Rour had suffered an undisclosed medical condition as a child which the metaphasic energy repaired plunging her into a sudden onset Caitian form of being in heat. Something she had never fully experienced before. Fortunately, another Caitian crewman whom M'Rour was in an informal relationship with had the necessary medicinal herbs to negate the effects until she could procure her own supply.

The mission itself was supposed to be nothing more than a shake down and supply run after their repairs. It wasn't. En route a system reset left the ship without power and dead in space. M'Rour, still not fully recovered from her recent bout of illness was on duty when the incident occurred.

The other Caitian crewman, S'Ruul, had made the attempt to reach the bridge, but in the complete darkness had grabbed hold of M'Rour. She in turn had reflexively kicked back, but in the zero gravity conditions that existed, she accidentally killed S'Ruul.

Once they had managed to regain control of the ship and restore power to return to base, M'Rour was ordered off duty by medical and sent for counselling until redeployment.

Before leaving on that mission, she had requested a duty reassignment. Upon returning she received order that it had been approved, and she was to report to the USS Sheridan at her earliest opportunity.
