A subroutine is subprogram in a computer, often used to help execute a higher level program.

It consists of instructions to perform a specific set of tasks for a main routine.

Though they function similarly, the difference between a "function" and a "subroutine" depends on the complexity of the task needed.

  • Many different subroutines can make up one function, which if done perfectly, look like one seamless movement.

Fun fact: Subroutines often account for the sentient qualities of Artificial intelligence.
Sometimes, subroutines in sentient computer beings are compared to the subconscious in humanoid lifeforms.
