Personal History
About Andrea not much is known. She grew up with her mother in Vancouver, without
anything noteworthy, apart from her not knowing who her father is. As a little girl Andrea was always
very happy, cheerful and her talent to communicate was quickly discovered. By the time she was 12
she already spoke four languages fluently. That by the time she was 18 she had mastered seven and
would be able to understand far, far more was no surprise to anyone. Also the development of
various linguistically diagnoses programs and theories came from the house of Giroux. She was one
of the first to relate eye movement to emotions in speech, making it easier to distinguish hostile
from empty threats.
Personality Profile
Academy Major(s): Tactical
Academy Minor(s): Communications
Hobbies and Pastimes: She is a bit of a geek for language, likes poetry from all over the galaxy.
Short-Term Goals: To be a teacher at the academy
Long-Term Goals: The desire to be the first person to discover a new language is very strong.
Personality: If you are looking for an easygoing partner, Giroux is the way to go. Even though she
can be sturdy if she chooses to be, she usually puts the welfare of others over her own needs. Andrea
has learnt to fare well on her own, rely on herself and her own knowledge. Although she has showed
that she also can work with others. She takes a lot of pride in her work and makes it no secret that
she considers herself already to be pretty competitive if it comes down to pure results on matters of
scientifically based interpreting. All in all, Giroux is a reliable person who will not easily run in to
trouble.
Sense of Humor: Easy to have fun with, can laugh about anything.
Phobias: She is not a big fan of large animals.
Likes: Stories, poetry and music
Dislikes: She is not a big fan of silence, silence is not her thing.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Big, noisy crowds, alarms blaring and other very loud sounds drive her crazy.
Bad Habits or Vices: She is a typical grammar nerd, always likes to share that knowledge with unknowing victims.
Achievements: Andrea is really proud at having developed new software as a prototype, which has
been picked up an investor and is now fully functional.
Disappointments: None
Illnesses: Her super sharp hearing is actually a compensation for not having that great eye vision.
When she was born, she was almost blind, currently with artificial connectors she can see again, yet
her body still heavily relies on her hearing. Which makes her such a great listener.
Strengths: Her sensitive hearing is definitely her great strength.
Weaknesses: What is her strength is also her weakness, too much noise makes her get frustrated
and distracted.
Fears: That something will happen to her fiancé
Prejudices: Sometimes has the tendency to see enlisted crew as dumb folk.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Checkered blouses, simple pants with kneepads and light boots are preferred.
Distinguishing Features: The way her face is shaped is very easy to recognize, sharp jaw and chin outline.
Pets: None
Friends: Alain Delevau is her fiancé and best friend. They met at the academy, he was a sports
teacher there.
Personal Paradigm Shifts
Most Painful Experience: Never having had any clue on who her father is.
Best Time: The first time she was called to the Canadian Higher Institute for Linguistic Discovery, or short
CHILD to present her prototype has given her a lot of positive drive.
Most Crucial Experience: None
Role Model: Lieutenant Maya Redding, she has been giving some lectures and for some reason
knew to say just the right things, every class again.
