Personal History

Early Life/Before Star Fleet

Aloysia comes from a sparsely populated planet known as New Halana. It is a beautiful, terraformed planet that was made by a Federation scientist, Dr. Seyetik, when the original Halana’s environment failed. The Halanans have a form of telepathy known as psycho-projective telepathy. Under the influence of high emotions, a Halanan will unknowingly project an image displaying that emotion, or at times even another person who looks like them, but acts differently. They are trained as a child to keep this under control as much as possible, but sometimes the emotional response makes this impossible.

The Halanans have very few people who venture out to other worlds or even off their planet, though they allow visitors from the Federation and other groups they trust. When, at age 17, Aloysia decided to leave New Halana to join the Federation and Star Fleet, her parents disowned her. As their only daughter, they wanted her to rise up within the Halanan government and gain a place for herself there. Her curiosity about other life and people proved to be too much, though, and she left her parents despite their loathing for her decision.

Star Fleet Academy

Aloysia left with a Federation ship that had been visiting New Halana. She had to pay for her lodging on board by helping out in the ship’s crew lounge, and eventually they got to Earth, where she applied for the Academy. She failed to get in the first time, though, as the Halanans hadn’t taught her enough about Federation society, history, and other things she needed to know to join Star Fleet. She found a job working at a restaurant and worked for two years while she studied to enter the Academy.

Her first year proved to be challenging, but she pushed through with the help of one instructor who tutored her, a former doctor who inspired her to be a doctor herself. She took courses in medical, though she knew she would take more than that to become a doctor.

After receiving her diploma, Aloysia was sent out on the USS Edison as a medic, where she continued her studies to become a doctor in the field. She returned to Earth as a Lieutenant Junior Grade, and took a short position at the Academy while she continued her studies there. She received her doctorate.

USS Titan, CL-2007

Aloysia had a brief waiting period before a position as a doctor opened up for her on the USS Titan. She was promoted to Lieutenant before she left, and told she would be the ACMO. On her first mission on the Titan, the CMO died and Aloysia was promoted to Chief Medical Officer.

When the USS Titan returned to Earth, she got a message that her mentor, Dr. Forcade, had passed away. She was devastated by this, but as he had no family, it was left to her to prepare his funeral. While she was on Earth doing this, she found out that he had left her his entire estate. She became rich overnight.

The USS Titan was sent on another mission that proved tough for the entire crew, both mentally and physically. During this time Aloysia had to perform a triple-organ surgery on one of the Terran Security Officers. With the help of a surgical team and a medical intern, she successfully removed part of the heart’s pericardium, one lobe of the lung, and most of the liver. The patient had to have new organs cloned to replace those he lost, but he survived. Aloysia had the surgery taped, and one of her colleagues sent it in to Star Fleet Medical. As a result, Star Fleet Medical promoted her to Lieutenant Commander.

USS Gettysburg, BC-1863

Shortly after, Aloysia found out she was being transferred to the USS Gettysburg, BC-1863. She wasn’t told her position until she spoke directly to the Captain of the Gettysburg, who informed her that she had been chosen as First Officer. She was shocked by the assignment, but took it with pride.

Her first mission as First Officer proved to be difficult, but she made it through. Afterward, she was promoted to Commander by her new Commanding Officer, Captain Torgh.

A Bad Case of Asteroids

Aloysia's next mission as First Officer was even more challenging. The Gettysburg was sent to patrol the Romulan border, and they received a distress call from one of the Federation’s listening Outposts. They investigated and found that a large asteroid was heading directly for the station. While Captain Torgh supervised the teams finding a way to move the station, Aloysia ended up with multiple teams exploring the asteroid.

The asteroid turned out to contain an artificial habitat with multiple sentient, humanoid lifeforms. There was also an alien AI named KR that had crashed on the asteroid. To make a long story short, they found that the asteroid’s inhabitants were suffering from radiation poisoning due to a failure of the artificial habitat’s computer system. With the help of KR, they were able to find a neutral planet for the inhabitants to settle on.

While Aloysia was away, Romulans attack the Gettysburg and the outpost, killing Captain Torgh and other crew members. Aloysia was left as default commanding officer, or so she thought. It turned out that Commander Grant, the Gettyburg’s security advisor, was automatically placed in command because of the secret intelligence group on the Gettysburg.

During this mission, Aloysia also got to know Lieutenant Commander Vaebn Tei, the Romulan advisor on the Gettysburg. They started dating, and spent the shoreleave after the asteroid mission together. During this time they grew closer and closer, until the sexual tension between them started to get in the way. Aloysia was afraid to act on it, however, because of the bond that would be forced on her. She wasn’t yet ready to admit she loved him.

The Battle for Star Base 157

After shoreleave, the Gettysburg was sent to Sector 228 along with many other Star Fleet ships because the Romulans were amassing there. A new Federation-Romulan War was starting. On route, Captain Grant informed Aloysia that Vaebn had been assigned to a covert operation, and she didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye.

The Battle for Star Base 157 was an interesting one, especially after the time anomaly that prevent the destruction of many of the ships. They Gettysburg itself managed to avoid being boarded and taken by the Romulans because of the rewind in time.

Saida/The Death of Vaebn Tei

The Gettysburg did not get a proper shoreleave after the battle. They docked at the Star Base for a day, and Grant was promoted to Commodore. When he returned, during one of the Gettysburg’s regular post-mission parties, he informed Aloysia that Vaebn had been killed. This news hit her hard, for she finally realized that she loved him. It sent her into a shock deep enough that she started psycho-projecting.

Her psycho-projection was a woman by the name of Saida who appeared to Lieutenant Nick Ristone, the last person Aloysia had seen before Grant informed her about Vaebn. Saida was almost the exact opposite of Aloysia: a saucy, scantily-clad woman who threw herself at Ristone. Nick resisted her advances as much as possible, and with the help of Laura Macleod, the doctor taking care of the unconscious Aloysia, they convince Saida to leave so that her maker could live. After she disappeared, Aloysia regained consciousness.

She was not, however, healed by this process. She went through a period of about two weeks in which she was relieved of duty and had to go through almost constant therapy. She was even put on a suicide watch for a small amount of time because of the depth of her grief. However, the Counselor Anna was able to help her, and Aloysia began to heal. She was eventually allowed to return to duty.

To BEE or Not to BEE

During the two weeks, the Gettysburg was sent to Risa under the command of Commodore Grant with Commander Reynolds, a man from Star Fleet Internal Investigation, as Acting First Officer. Grant had to go to a meeting on Risa, and the crew did not get a chance for shoreleave for as soon as the Commodore left, they received orders to head immediately to the Nehru System.

Aloysia was left in command of the ship, and allowed Reynolds to remain as Acting First Officer, despite the fact that they didn’t get along. Their mission to Nehru was to investigate reports that a research facility there was creating a biological weapon to use against the Romulans.

This turned out to be true, only the virus affected all humanoids. It was engineered to be delivered by a bee sting, and then spread through the air all over the Gettysburg. Many crew members were infected, and those who reached the later stages were turned into giant bees.

During the onset of the virus, while Aloysia was off the ship investigating it, an intruder pretending to be Commodore Grant wrecked havoc on the Gettysburg. It was separated into different sections and the warp cores were ejected. This made it even harder to control the virus.

Finally, after an encounter with the Romulan Tal Shiar, they were able to get everything under control. Lieutenant Commander Sevala destroyed the virus sonically, and Doctor Ai Yamazaki was able to come up with a cure for those who hadn’t reached the later stages. However, more than 400 crew members were infected and their condition as giant bees was irreversible. Aloysia was forced to euthanize all of them, an act that sent her back into therapy.

The Gettysburg was finally allowed to return to Starbase Alpha after this mission. During the three week journey home, Aloysia found herself becoming friends with Lieutenant Ristone. They made a habit of having dinner together, and he provided a good sounding board for her problems.

Aloysia found that she was starting to care for Nick. However, because she was his direct superior, she was reluctant to break protocol to have a relationship with him. She was content at the time to call him a close friend.

Once back in dock at Starbase Alpha, Aloysia and Nick’s relationship continued to develop. She invited him to spend shoreleave at her private estate outside of San Francisco while he underwent command training at Star Fleet Academy. At the same time, she taught a few classes at the Academy.

Eventually, Aloysia’s attraction to Nick and spending so much time in close proximity to him overwhelmed her resistance to breaking protocol, and they entered into a relationship. Unlike her relationship with Vaebn, they chose to take it slow due to her bonding imperative. Rather than a sexually charged relationship, they continued to build on the friendship they had started from.

During the travel time to the Gettysburg’s new mission, Aloysia realized she was in love with Nick. She instantly told him, and that same night they bonded. She now considers him her life-partner.

Through the Looking Glass and The Long Way Home

Thank you to N.C. (Nick Ristone) for allowing me to use some of the text of his bio.

Once the Gettysburg was re-launched from Starbase Alpha they were sent on a mission to infiltrate Romulan space to retrieve a piece of sensitive Federation technology. After entering Romulan space the Gettysburg found itself engaged in a battle with the Romulan Star Empire. The Gettysburg, though winning the battle, suffered extreme damage and passed through a strange rift that had opened thus delivering them to a location outside of their normal space and time.

Now in this strange place the Gettysburg had to fight not only to put themselves back together but also against a strange alien species known as the Frion. Thankfully, the Gettysburg had made an ally in the Grand Flammarion Confederacy through diplomatic channels. Together, and along with the declassified USS Apparition, they were able to fend off the attack, though both ships were heavily damaged.

After the battle, Admiral Grant left Aloysia in command of the Gettysburg while he took the Apparition and its Intelligence team to search for a way home. The GFC allowed the Gettysburg to dock at one of their facilities where they assisted to repair the Federation vessel in record time. The only condition was that the Gettysburg had to leave GFC space immediately afterward for they were about to be investigated by the so-called Terran Empire. The Gettysburg agreed and began to warp away when a message came in from Admiral Grant. He had found them a way home.

The Gettysburg was then able to return to normal space where they found themselves caught in a firefight between a series of Romulan vessels. Six months had passed during their time in the rift and the war with the Romulan Star Empire had reached a conclusion. The Gettysburg aligned itself with the RIS Shadowhawk against the former Romulan leader, none other than Aloysia’s ex-boyfriend’s father, Admiral Tei. Another surprise was that the Shadowhawk was under the command of a split Sevala, whom had her body split into two people during the pass into the rift.

Together the Gettysburg and the Shadowhawk fought off the enemy vessels. The Gettysburg, under the escort of the Romulan vessel, then began its journey back to Federation Space.

Before returning to normal space, Nick proposed to Aloysia and she accepted. Though bonding itself was a life time commitment for her, the Human commitment involved marriage and she was willing to go through the ceremony for Nick’s sake.

A couple days after the battle with the Romulans, Nick and Aloysia found out that she was pregnant with a baby girl. This was a complete surprise to them for Aloysia had been cautious about using a contraceptive implant, which obviously had malfunctioned. They also hadn’t thought they would be able to have a child naturally because of their different species, but they were proven wrong. They later chose to call their daughter Eleanor Yvette Ristone.

USS Nova, BB-106

The Gettysburg returned to Starbase Alpha and the crew was immediately put on shoreleave pending reassignment. Aloysia and Nick planned to use the time to plan their wedding, but Nick ended up caught in debriefings by Star Fleet Security. They were both nervous about getting sent on separate assignments, but thankfully Admiral Grant came to the rescue.

Derrick announced that he had received the commanding officer position on a new battleship. Because of Aloysia’s pregnancy, he did not want her to serve in the First Officer position, but he asked her to come aboard as the Personnel Officer. He then proceeded to ask Nick to be the First Officer. They both agreed.

Derrick agreed to officiate their wedding and offered to host it aboard the Nova during her ceremonial shake-down cruise. After a lot of ceremony surrounding the launch of the new battlecruiser, Aloysia and Nick had their wedding in “The Last Call” (Ten Forward) aboard the USS Nova.

USS Philadelphia, FF-6053

Is Anybody Out There?

The Nova was sent along with a flotilla of other ships to investigate a star system that had appeared from the alternate universe. Unlike the other systems that appeared during that incident, this one had not yet revert. A space-faring civilization had been detected, and they were sent to make First Contact.

While enroute, they stopped at Carraya to attend a Star Fleet Command briefing where it was revealed that Romulus would be razed by a nearby star going supernova. Because of this, Rear Admiral Grant was reassigned to the Eisn system. Though Aloysia believed that she deserved the next command of the former Gettysburg crew, she was not of rank to take a capital ship and so Read Admiral Thomas Grayson was put in command.

Aloysia was appointed First Contact Specialist for the mission. There they met the Jorpyin, one of the ships commanded by the space-faring species. They called themselves the Gondwanans, and were arthropodian life-forms that looked like a cross between a lobster and a spider. They were huge beings, but also seemed very peaceful and were willing to arrange a First Contact meeting.

Before official First Contact happened between the Gondwanan government and the Star Fleet crew, another ship arrived to be added to the flotilla. It was the USS Philadelphia, FF-6053, and it was running on a skeleton crew. To Yvette’s surprise, Grayson promoted her to Captain and gave her command of the Philadelphia. She accepted, but only after ensuring that Nick was okay with it.

Aloysia chose Commander William Hudson to be her First Officer, and took on the Department Heads that were already assigned to the Philadelphia. Even though she was still First Contact Specialist, Grayson decided to go to the Gondwanan planet to initiate First Contact himself. Yvette was left in space and in charge of the flotilla. She also helped coordinate an exchange program with the Jorpyin crew.

While the Admiral was on planet with an away team, a faction of Gondwanans known as the ‘Neos’ launched a probe-like vessel from the planet that attached to one of the Gondwanan research stations. It turned out that the station was emitting an energy field onto one of the planet’s islands that housed the Neos that had be segregated from society. The probe twisted the research station out of position, causing the energy beam to strike the Nova. It instantly wiped out all the Nova’s electronic systems.

The huge ship had to be evacuated, and the away team was recalled from the planet to help. The Gondwanans also helped house some of the refugees on one of their stations. The bulk of the Nova senior crew went to the USS Pegasus, CL-2500, where Nick was unexpectedly given command of the flotilla ship. This chafed Aloysia a bit because she had just gotten command and she had rank and seniority over her husband, however she did not let herself dwell on it and by now has gotten over the fact.

Information came out from the Gondwanan government that the Neos actually had some kind of genetic disease that was changing their appearance and abilities. The Star Fleet crews were asked to help investigate the disease and perhaps find a cure. It was decided that the Philadelphia would land on the island that housed the infected Neos, and that they would send a research team over consisting of both Pegasus and Philadelphia team members.

The ship landed with only minor difficulties, including a damaged landing strut that was quickly repaired. An away team was sent to the facility, but problems with the Gondwanans in orbit and on the Pegasus caused them to quickly get recalled after finding out very little. The Philadelphia was forced to return to orbit only a few hours after it had landed.

In the end, it turned out that the Gondwanans did not have a disease at all, but instead the Neos had been changed deliberately sometime in the past, and the genetics had been passed down through the generations. Unfortunately, the Star Fleet crews could do nothing about it because they were asked to leave Gondwanan space and return only when asked by the Gondwanan government. What’s more, the planetary system ended up reverting back to its original space, leaving behind as system with a primitive species similar to the Gondwanans in nature.

Eleanor’s Birth

When Yvette was promoted to Captain, the shock of the incident plus the stress of her duties sent her into premature labor. Thankfully, that had been anticipated by her and her doctor, Laura Macleod, due to the baby’s hybrid nature. They had already prepared a medication to stave off labor, and Aloysia was immediately put on it.

They concluded that the baby was fully developed while they were enroute to Star Base Delta after the Gondwanan mission. Aloysia moved to the Pegasus temporarily to be with her husband and her doctor, and went off the medication. After four days her water finally broke. The labor was long, but otherwise uneventful until the arrival of the baby. Eleanor Yvette Ristone was born 3 lbs 7 oz, small for a human but a low birth weight is typical of Halanan babies. She was born very healthy, and simply needed to be kept warm for a few weeks as she gained weight. She continued to be healthy as she grew strong.

Sunrise Over Carraya

Nick and Aloysia began their shoreleave together by simply spending time with each other, their new baby girl, and Nick’s parents. They attended the Gondwanan Mission awards ceremony and spent some time showing off Eleanor, but stayed low key other than that.

Then, they were suddenly recalled with the rest of the ships docked at Star Base Delta to respond to a distress call at Carraya. Eleanor was left with Nick’s parents on the base, and the two captains returned to their ships. After the short journey to the Carrayan system, the ships were all dispersed to various missions around the area. The Philadelphia was sent to secure a mining station in the asteroid belt along with the USS Armstrong.

Unfortunately the ship was unable to meet its mission objectives due to an attack on the Armstrong that turned into an attack on the Philadelphia as well. The ship was disabled and boarded, but the crew successfully repelled the attackers. After the attack, they made repairs with assistance from the Austin and the Salem, and finally were towed out of the system before going to warp back to Star Base Delta. The other Fourth Fleet ships soon joined them after wrapping up the mission at Carraya. (Please read more at the link above).

Here or There?

After returning to Star Base Delta, Nick was asked to join Starfleet Security as Chief of Staff and to work with Admiral Emily Scott. After some discussion between Aloysia and Nick, they decided that he should take the job. The problem was that they would be separated for several months at a time while he served on Earth or where he was needed, and Aloysia would still be on the Philadelphia. Though they were convinced that their marriage could handle that, Eleanor was a different story. In the end, it was decided that she would be safest with Nick, and though it broke her heart, Aloysia left them for her next mission with the Philadelphia.

Along with the Pegasus, Sheridan and Copernicus, the Philadelphia was sent to Starbase Charlie to receive orders and then to the Dalmatia supersystem. Each ship was sent to investigate various planets of interest in the system. The Philadelphia was sent to Dvorak, where an Iconian gateway had been discovered in the past by the USS Titan on the mission before Aloysia began her service there.

Aloysia sent an away team to the surface of the planet to investigate. After encountering a species of hostile, semi-sentient plants with telepathic and telekinetic abilities, the away team was sent through the gateway leaving only Security officer Nobbs behind.

In the meantime, a bacterial/viral infection was running through the ship that infected the only doctor on board as well as three other crew members. Aloysia asked for assistance from the Pegasus, and one of her best friend, Commander Laura Macleod, was sent with a team to deal with the infection. The bacteria was found to be Vegan Choriomeningitis that had been infected itself with Levodian Flu. The medical team was able to treat the disease with no further problems.

After meeting with several people on the ship, Aloysia sent a second away team to the surface to try to reopen the gateway and get the team back. Before the team could do anything, however, a Romulan light cruiser contacted the Philadelphia with a message that they had the lost away team. The gateway had led to another planet in the Dalmatia supersystem, Montrose. Both away teams were successfully retrieved, though one Security crewman from the first team lost their life.

Since the mission of investigating the gateway was complete, Aloysia ordered the Philadelphia to return to Starbase Delta. After leaving the nebula that surrounded Dalmatia, they received the news about the invaders from the Gamma Quadrant. Aloysia suspected that their next mission would involve the new war that the Federation found itself in.

Reassignment and Theft of the Chin’toka

Aloysia’s predictions about their next mission involving the Inquisition proved to be wrong. Instead, she got the pleasant surprise that she had been assigned as Commanding Officer of Starfleet’s newest heavy cruiser, the USS Chin’toka. The ship was a step-up from the Philadelphia, and felt almost like a promotion to the Halanan. Unfortunately, the assignment also came with a ready-made First Officer, taking the freedom of choice away from the Captain.

Aloysia did not have a long time to celebrate her new assignment before a station-wide drill started on Starbase Delta. All crews were informed to return to their ships, and that meant that she would leave her Philadelphia crew behind to take over the Chin’toka. Little did she know that this ship was about to be hijacked.

The captains of the 4th Fleet ships were informed that it was a drill and they were led to the Chin’toka to allow their crews to handle the drill. They were led right into a trap. A group of terrorists had decided to take advantage of the drill and hijack the brand-new heavy cruiser. The CO’s were tied up and held captive in the morgue. Luckily, through working together they were able to escape.

The Chin’toka was taken back from the hijackers through the combined efforts of the captains and the crew of the Pegasus. The Captain’s yacht was taken, though, and pursued by the James Madison. The 4th Fleet ships returned to base to effect repairs and regroup.

Though Aloysia had to accept Latro as her First Officer, she also got to bring over many of the crew members from the Philadelphia. After additional shoreleave with the Chin’toka was repaired, the crew set out on its first real mission.
