Yarim Fel Syndrome is a terminal Cardassian illness.
The patient's life can be prolonged by "hexadrin therapy" (a Cardassian-specific drug) or with neuro-regeneration procedures, but the disease cannot be cured.
Yarim Fel spreads throughout the body, causing what has been described as shooting pain.
Once the digestive tract, cartilage tissue and respiratory system are infected, a patient has a life expectancy of only one week, depending on the person's current physical and mental state.
Eventually, the disease causes full failure of the central nervous system, killing the patient.
