Personal History

As a young boy, Griffin enjoyed tinkering with electronics and models of star ships, and was always jumping at the chance to get on a starship with his father. For many years, Griffin had his mind set on being a Star Fleet engineer but only in recent years had he realized the commitment he would be making by joining Star Fleet.

Griffin did well in his schooling, and enjoyed being a part of the school band, especially once he got to be a Trumpet section leader. It was when he had this leadership position that he realized he was a born leader, despite his parents always telling him so anyway.

Halfway through his high school years, his mother died, which really took a toll on him. For several months, his grades suffered, and he was depressed to the point that he turned down many opportunities to tour star ships and Star Fleet. Only when he met his girlfriend in his early senior year did his life finally turn around.

Early Starfleet Career

He became more dedicated than ever to his studies and starting realizing that he could have a real future as a Star Fleet officer. This led him to make the decision that forever changed his life: He signed up for Star Fleet! Serving aboard the USS Drake and then the USS Dauntless, Griffin was quickly subjected to all manner of tactical situations, expanding his knowledge and humbling him more quickly and more significantly than he ever thought possible.

Quickly rising through the ranks, he soon found himself the Chief Tactical Officer of the Drake, and upon its decommissioning, then the CTO of the Dauntless. He holds his position with the upmost pride and respect for the job, and strives to improve his work every day.

USS Dauntless

While aboard the Dauntless, he led an away mission to another ship in an effort to rescue hostages. Lt Komoscov was on his team, and though they were separated for part of the mission, the bond between them grew closer than ever as they both suffered injuries in doing their duty to the Federation. Ever since this day, the two often confer with each other and share a bond that only brothers in war can relate to.

Griffin continued to serve proudly aboard the Dauntless as the Chief Tactical Officer, despite several crippling personal events that have pulled him away from duty on occasion. When life and crisis demanded that the young Tactical Officer retire early from Starfleet, his sense of duty always pulled him back, with the overwhelming support of a fantastic crew.

Missions have brought Griffin and his team to the brink of disaster, but they've always come back in one piece, despite events such as Earth being torn apart, the Dauntless being shredded by the Krynar, and mishaps with Romulans and their offshoots in various star systems. However, a sense of pride and honor has always endured, and Griffin now proudly serves alongside several former crew-members from the past, including his significant other Lt Maggie Murphy, and his new First Officer, Commander Theo Caldecott (who rose through the ranks faster than Griffin due to his outstanding ability and charm, of course)

One mission together placed Theo and Griffin into command positions, and as acting First Officer, Griffin stood by Theo's side and supported him, though not without offering critical feedback when needed. While they finally made it to Celes II and were reunited with their kidnapped Captain, the infamous Torgh, it was not easy. Medical, Tactical, Ethical, and Diplomatic issues plagued the crew, but they all endured and succeeded - thus far. A bio-engineered virus wreaked havoc down in medical, the mighty USS Dauntless was attacked and almost crippled as the Captain was abducted in a twisted plot, and command struggles ensured. However, what will always remain in Griffin's mind is how the crew ultimately stuck together despite their differences, and with his time in the First Officer's chair, Griffin obtained a new-found sense of admiration for the struggles faced by those in command positions. It is no easy task, but by golly, it sure is important.

USS Sheridan

The time came, however, for Griffin to move up to a new position. He was ordered aboard the USS Sheridan as her First Officer on Stardate 21501.06, and proudly served under the tutelage of Captain Richard Vaughn, eventually arranging for his old friend Theo to be transferred soon after as the Sheridan's new Chief Engineer. Less than a year later, another series of events brought new challenges for Griffin as his Captain was reassigned. He has since taken up the helm as the Acting CO of the Sheridan, and has dedicated his time and efforts to bring new life to the vessel and her crew.

Starbase Bravo

After serving as CO of the Sheridan for well over a year, Griffin was promoted and re-assigned to Starbase Bravo. Wanting to settle down and have a family with his soon-to-be wife, this assignment was perfect. His fiancée requested a transfer, and after they got married, it appears that the Wright family is happy to stay on Bravo.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Tactics, Propulsion Systems, and LCARS Engineering.
Academy Minor(s): Subspace Communication and Weapons Systems.
Hobbies and Pastimes: Holodeck programming, Marksmanship, advanced vehicle dynamics, and playing the banjo.
Short-Term Goals: Breathe new life into the USS Sheridan as her Acting CO, increasing crew count and serving the Federation to the best of his abilities.
Long-Term Goals: Complete the transition to full CO, along with a promotion to Captain. Work closely with 1F leadership and his fellow Captains to protect the core values of the Federation.
Personality: A natural leader, Griffin tends to take control in small group situations but always values the input of those he works with. He rarely gets truly mad, but when he does, do not be near him. Helping others is always a priority. He is perhaps a bit obsessed with timing, planning details down to the minute in every aspect of life.
Sense of Humor: A strong sense of humor, but not a absurd one - enjoys making jokes to keep conversations friendly and to keep morale up. However, he has a very hard time telling long jokes or stories for some reason.
Phobias: Paranoid about being late, tends to sometimes triple and quadruple-check his work, but otherwise not much can bother Griffin.
Likes: Playing the banjo. All food that has a good flavor - nothing too bland or too spicy. Comfort food is the best. Always enjoys learning about any kind of technology, present, future, or past.
Dislikes: Waiting for things to happen, and rooms that are above 72 degrees F.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: People who walk slow and crowd up the hallway and people who think they are smarter than everyone else but really are quite the opposite.
Achievements: Graduated with honors in the top 10% of his class in high school, receiving advanced credits in mathematics and physics.
Disappointments: Got rejected entirely too many times by girls in his younger years. Has always had a hard time talking to girls. Also had a hard time losing some extra pounds.
Illnesses: An annoying allergy to cat dander.
Strengths: Performs well when leading and helping others - good decision making and motivational skills. Likes to learn new things.
Weaknesses: Sometimes has a hard time making decisions on the spot or sometimes simply can't make his mind up about small things. A very light sleeper, which is an annoying problem
Fears: Unexplainable sounds or sights in the middle of the night. Also, the idea of death by suffocation or drowning is really not pleasant.
Prejudices: Tends to feel that Vulcans have a superiority complex.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: A good pair of blue jeans (not too dark or light), any t-shirt, and a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Distinguishing Features: When viewed from the side, Griffin has a rather flat facial profile, and as seen by the dark circles under his eyes, always seems tired despite an unending amount of energy. He also can bend his thumbs back quite far.
Pets: None at present.
Friends: Namely Theodore Caldecott, with whom Griffin has served for many years, on several vessels. They are never apart for too long.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: The day his mother died. It was her birthday, and the family planned a big surprise party for her to come home to after work, but she never came home. Having died in a tragic shuttle accident on the way back from work, the last time he had spoken to her was in an argument that morning over pancakes. Griffin's guilt over this will never leave him.
Best Time: The first time his father took him on board a starship. It was the most exhilarating experience of his entire life, and he wanted to know everything there was to know about Star Fleet and starships.
Most Crucial Experience: The day he signed the papers contracting him to be a member of Star Fleet. The decision had been the most difficult one to make in his entire life, and it took many months to finally make up his mind. If it wasn't for his girlfriend's support and motivation, he doubts he would have been able to succeed.
Role Model: Commander Jeremy Wright - His father had to give up many of his friends and family to join Star Fleet, and did so willingly knowing he would probably never see many of them again. His perseverance and determination has always been motivation for Griffin to succeed.
