Personal History

Erica Karin Wolf was born to her loving parents, Liliane and Alois W. Wolf on May 30th, Memorial Day. Her mother was an enlisted science officer in Star Fleet stationed on the Antares Research Station. Her father practices martial arts professionally, and owns a successful school that combines a mix of a practices and weapons training. Given the sensitive nature of her mother’s assignment and distance from Earth, Erica was practically raised at her father’s school, and began learning at a very early age.

Since the technique of Majapai redirects an opponent’s force and applies a method of pain compliance rather than using strength to achieve victory, she was able to defeat fighters much larger than herself. By the time she had reached age eleven, Erica possessed numerous trophies from tournaments and competitions, while still remaining humble and gracious. At the age of thirteen, she had already become an assistant instructor at her father’s school.

This of course was only one side of Erica’s life, and her mother, despite being stationed off world, was certainly not devoid from it. Her mother brought a sense of wonder about the vast universe and community, but also expected perfection when it came to her schooling. She frequently spent her summers with her mother at the research station, learning firsthand about Starfleet procedures and scientific methodologies. While science did interest Erica, it was always through the prism of her first love, the martial arts. Her mother’s research focused on xenobiology, information Erica saw as useful in the theoretical application of her pain compliance techniques. After all, not everyone keeps their… nerves in the same place.

It was while she was staying with her mother, a formative event led to her early application to Starfleet. The Antares research station is located near the Antares shipyards where prototype vessels such as the Prometheus were developed. During a routine visit to the research station by Admiral Felna, Startfleet Tactical Command, three members of the research staff attempted to seize control of the station when it was discovered they were part of a rogue Romulan infiltration team, surgically altered to blend in with the crew. Erica’s mother was killed when she attempted to expose the Romulan plot. With the element of surprise, the Romulans were able to secure an escape route while also capturing Admiral Felna. The young girl, only sixteen at the time and having learned of her mother’s death, came to the defense of the Admiral, assisting station security in disabling all three of the attackers. So impressive was her skill and composure when faced with such a situation, the Admiral made a recommendation that Erica apply for Starfleet Academy early with the Admiral’s blessing.
