Personal History

He who is known as The Agent had worked for one of the Federation colonies' local governments along the Cardassian border, although he occasionally did confidential work for private citizens as well. Nobody knew his true identity as he used a series of aliases on the jobs he did. In truth, The Agent was Michael Winchester, the genius and the only son of a wealthy playboy who had used his father's wealth and influence to win a very rare spot in a student exchange program that took him to planet Vulcan. There, he studied at the Vulcan Science Academy for a time and immersed himself in the Vulcan way of life. Gaining the knowledge of the Vulcan way of reasoning and combining it with his own human instinct and emotions, gave Michael a unique approach to problem solving and tactical plotting. In addition to his extensive knowledge that was deemed very impressive for a human by his Vulcan instructors, his smart tactics and good planning eventually proved to be more useful in his line of work than mere scientific knowledge.

As a young man, he had achieved his childhood dream and graduated from Starfleet academy. He served as a Tactical officer aboard the battleship USS Comet for two years before resigning his commission over a major disagreement concerning an extraction plan for a captured away team with his Department Head. The plan failed and the team was killed, causing Winchester to blame himself for not pushing further to force his DH to see the errors of her ways.

'The Agent' in his armor

He decided to work on his own ever since, and he moved to the fairly lawless area of the Cardassian border colonies and hired a small team of capable mercenaries to help his cause. A few years later, he first encountered his nemesis, a menace who mirrored Winchester's own brilliance and went by the name of Chan, the leader of one of the largest drug trafficking gangs in the Federation. Chan's tactics had caused Winchester to inadvertently kill two innocent civilians during one of his jobs. The pair had clashed on many occasions and Chan had managed to escape every time. However, since returning to Earth in pursuit of Chan, Winchester had operated as The Agent, leaving his days of service to the colonies behind, instead he prowled the streets of the Terran cities and rooted out the followers of his evil nemesis. When Michael moved to Earth, he left a trail of dead or incapacitated bad people behind him. They were mostly members of Chan's gang or his business partners. The investigation done had shed some light into the methods behind those activities and it offered a glimpse into The Agent's knack for tactics and planning. That had attracted the attention of an influential officer in Star Fleet Intelligence who intended to recruit him, and caused the agency to actively pursue Winchester. Eventually, he fell into a well planned trap by the unknown SFIC officer (Winchester suspects him to be Captain Hunter himself,) and he was offered a choice between prison time for taking justice into his own hands or joining the service in exchange to wiping his file clean. Putting his plans to hunt down Chan on hold, Michael decided to join in. Upon reinstating his commission, he was given an officer field rank and his first assignment was to the Challenger Project.
