Personal History
Born on Mars to a family of Starfleet engineers, he had a pretty much normal upbringing moving from post to post throughout the Federation with his parents assignments, but preferred the sciences to engineering.
When growing up, he had been aboard the USS David Arnold when an accident had occurred, and he was forced to help the attending medic in treating the injured man. Since then, he'd developed an appreciation for medicine which eventually became his chosen career when he joined the Academy.
While in his second year, he took a sabbatical along with several of his class mates to Risa where they par took in a series of extreme sports. William found that he excelled in particular at orbital skydiving, his new found passion came at the expense of the relationship with his partner who chose to break up with him on their return to the Academy.
Upon graduation, he was assigned to the USS Ozaki under Captain Tam. On his first mission, they encountered a planet that seemed full of happy people who had amazing medical technology that would advanced the Federation by centuries, it was only later that they discovered that they were Solanogenic lifeforms hell bent on possessing everyone to gain a foot hold in our universe.
While this was happening, he inadvertently entered a mind meld with a Vulcan crewman who had been possessed by one of the lifeforms. This had triggered a Pon Farr reaction, and he now may or may not be in a relationship with the Vulcan.
