Below are tables describing the effectiveness of different weapons against different targets, broken down by classification rather than class in order to more effectively describe the effects vs both Star Fleet and non-Star Fleet vessels. Though Type-1 Phasers are the standard armament of all Star Fleet vessels, their overall power and effectiveness is determined by the size of the power carrying such weapons, and therefore how much power can be directed to them during times of combat. A Heavy Cruiser would have more power to divert than a Frigate, and may have larger energy capacitors to store weapon energy in prior to firing - allowing more powerful blasts, or a longer duration of constant fire-on-target.

Likewise, though ships may share shield generators, the power available to be diverted to shields is determined by the vessel class. A Heavy Cruiser will have more powerful shields than a Frigate, and is therefore more likely to endure hits from more powerful weapons over a longer duration before collapsing.

The classifications mentioned below are as follows:

  • NEGLIGIBLE - Weapon is mostly ineffective. Minor damage to shields, cosmetic or minor damage to un-shielded hull plating.
  • LOW - Weapon has a low degree of effectiveness vs both shields and hull. Overall shield drainage likely to be <10% per hit, damage to un-shielded hull likely to be minor.
  • MODERATE - Weapon is likely to drain shields by 10-25% per hit, and may penetrate an un-shielded hull and do damage to internal systems.
  • HIGH - Weapon is very effective against target. Weapon is likely to drain 25-50% of shield power per hit, and will penetrate un-shielded hull and cause significant damage.
  • EXTREME - Weapon is extremely effective effective against target. Weapon is likely to drain 75%+ of shield power per hit, and will penetrate un-shielded hull and cause crippling damage. Destruction of vessel likely.
