Personal History

Childhood

Lymtara, who usually goes by Lym, was born on board the San Grias, a Starfleet patrol vessel usually stationed around Trill. Her mother was, then, the Chief Engineering Officer aboard the ship. Not wanting to put her two children, Lym and Lenn, in danger, she asked a family friend to watch over them on the Trill homeworld. Their father apparently ran out on the family shortly after Lym was born; a story that Lym herself disbelieves regardless of how adamant her mother is regarding the subject.

The family that Lym and Lenn were sent to live with on Trill was an old acquaintance of their mother. A human family working at the Federation Embassy. It was their that Lym first met Samantha, someone who would become her friend for life. One day, at the age of six, Lym, Lenn and Samantha were roughhousing causing severe damage to Lym’s left eye. She insisted on getting the eye replaced with a “robot eye” as Lym called it, despite having the option of genetically “growing” a new eye.

After causing the loss of his sisters eye, Lenn changed dramatically. He went from a carefree, happy-go-lucky young boy, to a dedicated student. Eventually, he applied to the Symbiosis Committee, actually becoming accepted despite trying to enter at the age of 12. Within two years, at age eight, Lym decided to follow in her mothers footsteps, and try her luck at Starfleet. She dedicated herself to her studies, making sure she had more then the required grades to enter Starfleet.

Right around the time she graduated form High School, she had found out some good news for her brother, he had officially been chosen as a host. Not only that, but, he was chosen to be the first host of a new symbiont, Vexx.

At the Academy

Lym tried to enter the academy early, but her mother urged her to wait it out till she could do it normally. Even with grades above the entry requirements (although, only barley), she found the academy extremely difficult. It wasn’t the fact that she had to share a room, she always shared a room with Samantha back on Trill, it was that she found it very hard to get along with others. It became apparent to her that she was difficult to get along with. A fact that both Lenn and Samantha would later confirm.

For her Major, Lym decided on Security, using her confrontational manner to her own advantage. She excelled in the use of Phasers, especially long range Phaser Rifles, and could recite most of the laws from memory.

Her confrontational attitude was something that she struggled to work though during the academy, to little effect. She even took up Medical as her minor to try and develop a “bedside manner,” it worked to a degree. Her roommate, a Medical Major, pointed out that when she was on duty, or even in the classroom, she wasn’t as confrontation, off duty however, she was the same Lym that came to the Academy.

About halfway through the academy, she got some happy news from home. Her best friend, Samantha, and her brother had decided to get married. It was a surprise to both Lenn and Samantha that she was able to make it to the wedding, but she managed too.

Lym’s life changed shortly before graduating from Starfleet Academy. She went to visit her brother on Cyrus 2, where he moved too with Samantha. Shortly after her arrival, Lenn was found in a pool of his own blood, his throat slashed. Being the only other Trill within three sectors, she was volunteered to be joined with the Vexx symbiont.

First Mission

Right after graduating the Academy, Lym was assigned to the U.S.S. Titan, a Federation Light Cruiser commanded by a Captain Alexis Tregelen. The Titan was already mid-mission by the time Lym got aboard. The ship was assigned to a first contact mission, and much of the command crew were already planet side when she arrived; the only senior officer aboard being the First Officer, Lieutenant Commander Dempsey. Immediately, the two were at odds as it seemed that Lym’s new First Officer did not care for the young Trill, as she had to repeat the reports that she was asked to give on several occasions.

Before Lym was angered further by being ignored by her First Officer, she was called away to Engineering with reports of a strange noise caused by a possible intruder. Accompanied by an Engineering Officer, she began to search through the Jefferies Tubes looking for a possible saboteur at a recently damaged junction. During the crawl, the intruder/saboteur was discovered, and it turned out to be a Vole. The Vole attacked Lym, trying to rip out her implant; in a rather rash move, Lym pulled at the Voles body, tearing it from its head.

Lym was then called to the Bridge, and not having time to change out of her soiled uniform, she reported for duty. The Titan was being stalked by a ship of mammoth size of the people they had been sent to contact. During the initial contact with the massive ship, they were attacked by a Klingon ship. Through brilliant piloting and impressive talents of the crew, the Titan was not destroyed by the surprise attack. The giant alien ship stopped the battle between the Titan and Klingons.

During the shore leave following the mission, two of Lym’s crew-mates got married on Betazed, which Lym was more then happy to attend. Having never been to Betazed, Lym totally enjoyed her time, perhaps a little to much. She ended up spending a drunken, passion filled night with a man she barely knew. The morning after, she learned that the man she had spent the night with was the brother of Yasmin, the crew-mate who’s wedding she was there to attend.

After her return to the Titan, Lym learned something astonishing, her one night of passion resulted in her getting pregnant. Though she was unprepared for the sudden realization, she was still quite happy at the news.

Second Mission

Before departing on her second mission, the Titan had undergone a few personnel changes. Most notably, was that the First Officer who got under her skin, Commander Dempsey, was temporarily reassigned. Also, Lym got a new Department Head, Lieutenant Sienna Tam, another Joined Trill, the two of them got a long quite famously right away.

While on patrol, the Titan received a distress call from an asteroid mine, and went to investigate. The high amount of radiation prevented any transportation except for a few brief windows. The possibility of injuries and potential hostages, meant that the Titan could not wait for the Transportation Windows, and shuttle craft were required.

Thankfully, whoever attacked the mine had left, though there were many injuries. It took some running around, but the Away Team, split into two groups, managed to stabilize all but the most severally injured on the mine. As both shuttle craft were on their way back to the Titan, a sensor ghost appeared on their screens. It appeared as if whoever had attacked the mine, was not far off, possibly cloaked.

Despite what most of the crew would have liked, the Titan did not have time to track down the sensor ghost, as another distress call came in. This time, a mysterious plague on a nearby planet. Racing to the planet, the Titan decided to investigate and, if possible, cure the plague.

Though the danger was present in their previous away mission, this time Lym decided it was best to go to her Department Head with her condition. It took a lot of convincing, but Tam eventually allowed Lym to participate in the away mission to the planet. Though it took a lot of effort from both the Away Team, shipboard crew and information obtained form the doctors on the planet, they managed to cure all but the worst infected. The worst infected, were placed in suspended animation until a cure for their advanced form of mutation was discovered.

Lym knew she could not continue to participate in her duties in the same fashion with her being pregnant, so, she decided to take some time off to have her child following the mission. She decided to take some Maternity Leave back on Trill. Thankfully, her mother took a leave of absence at that time as well. The two took some time to reconnect, and welcome the newest member of their family, the young Syrii, to the universe.

Third Mission

Lym's return to the Titan did not come as smoothly as she had hoped. Reporting in to her Commanding Officer, Commodore Tregelen, she had learned that the Commodore did not wish to accept her return, but that it was forced upon him. Despite this, the young Trill took it as a personal challenge to regain the trust of her CO. Not long after her return to the Security Office, did she get a glimmer of a chance to re-prove herself to the Commodore when she was called to escort Rear Admiral Roberts to the Ready Room. Though she would have liked to be able to remain in the Ready Room to overhear the, what Lym expected to be, orders from the Rear Admiral, she was sent outside of the Ready Room and told to stand by.

Thankfully for her, the stand by orders quickly changed. There was a odd occurrence in the Cargo Bay reported by one of her Security comrades; and Ensign by the name of Robin Golden; and she was ordered to aid him there. Once in the Cargo Bay, she was informed that some cargo Transported over form Sierra-18 was giving off faint energy readings. Once the two Officers opened the container, Lym was mortified with what came out of the container: five Cardiassian Voles. The small detachment of Security Officers managed to incapacitate three of the Voles, however, two of the creatures managed to escape capture. After a short crawl through the Jeffries Tubes, Lym and Golden found the pair of Voles. Trapping them within a Forcefield, Lym attempted to Transport the vermin off the ship, but the Computer malfunctioned and sent the Voles to different areas of the ship.

Ensign Golden and Lym decided it was best to split up to remove both creatures simultaneously. Lym went after the Vole that had materialized on the Auxiliary Bridge with Golden going after the Vole on Deck Six. It didn't take long for the observant Trill to find the creature beneath the Tactical Console, she quickly trapped it inside of another Forcefield. She attempted to overload the Console, thus frying the Vole, but the Computer (which was still slow to respond) would not allow her to damage the console. Annoyed, Lym ordered all oxygen transported outside of the Forcefield. Half expecting the Computer to malfunction again, she held her breath as the Computer did as she requested; however, the Vole was only rendered unconscious and not killed as Lym desired. Foolishly, Lym set her Phaser to Maximum and fired on the helpless creature, disintegrating it completely.

Almost as soon as she had removed the Vole from the Auxiliary Bridge, Ensign Golden informed the young mother that the other Vole has metalized in a vent above her quarters. Thankful that Syrii was in the Care Center, Lym hurried to her Quarters to dispose of the creature. She met Golden outside of her and Syrii's quarters; she was slightly embarrassed to let the man into her living space as she had yet to finish unpacking from her move back to the Titan. It didn't take long for the pair of Security Officers to find where exactly the Vole was located, it was located in a cross section between two entrances to the vent. Surrounding it, both Officers fired their phasers (Lym having to re-set her phaser to Stun) killing the creature. Upon a Tricorder scan, Golden discovered that the Vole was pregnant with a litter, something that Lym was more then happy to end.

The week following the Vole hunt was rather uneventful, thought shortly into the second week something very strange occurred. Following a Engineering Accident, Lym was called to the quarters of the Commodore. Once she arrived at the Commodore's quarters, she became quickly puzzled over what was going on. The Engineering Accident had, somehow, switched the minds of the Commodore and Lym's friend, and now First Officer, Sienna Tam. Quietly, Lym and Golden escorted Sienna (in the Commodore's body) to Sickbay. Both the Commodore, who was a Betazoid, and Sienna, a joined Trill like Lym, was experiencing problems being in another Races body. Sienna was experiencing troubles with the Commodore's telepathy used the young Security officer as a mental focus to quiet the minds of the rest of the crew. Intent on switching the command staff back into their natural bodies, and as quietly as possible, Lym and Golden interviewed the most Senior Engineering Officers, Midshipman Gray with Lym, and Commander Vixx with Golden. After learning as much as they could, and really doing all that they could, the matter of the switched Command Staff was left in the hands of the Engineering, Science, and Medical staff.

Almost as soon as the Titan arrived at Starbase Two and dropping the Rear Admiral off, they received a emergency distress call from Sierra-18: they would soon be attacked by an unknown enemy. Being one of the closest Starfleet ships, the Titan made her way right back to where she had left only a few weeks prior. Despite their best efforts, Sierra-18 was destroyed by the unknown enemy. Information was scarce, and little/no remains of their attackers was left to analyze.
