Star

Vega is a single star within the Milky Way’s Alpha Quadrant.

The star is approximately 25.1 light years from Sol (Earth). Its average apparent magnitude, as viewed from Earth, is 0.6, and its absolute visual magnitude is 0.0, making it about 51 times brighter than Sol. It is a blue subgiant with a stellar classification of A0 and an average temperature of about 7,625 degrees Kelvin. (See also the Astronomical Terms Database.)

Planetary System

The Vega star hosts an inhabited planetary system with no less than nine planets. Vega IX, the ninth planet within the planetary system, also known as Vega Colony, and not to be confused with Rhaandaran (Alpha Indi), the Rhaandarite homeworld, is a major colony world, the founding members of which were Humans originating from Earth. The Vega planetary system is also home to a colony of Rhaandarites—also known as Vegans—originating from Rhaandaran. Today, all inhabitants of the planetary system are members of the United Federation of Planets.

As early as circa Stardate 5400, Vega Colony was a major source of and destination for trade, and was equipped with practical medical facilities, including hospitals.
