Personal History

Raymond Varner grew up in a modest home in the suburbs of Athens, Georgia on Earth. His parents were loving, and encouraging. Being the only child he was left alone a lot. His parents left him with a family that they knew. This is when Ray met his longtime best friend Megan. The Newman’s were loving, and carefree as they watched over Ray when he was younger.

As Ray grew so did his interest in Megan. This growing interests did not disrupt Ray’s studies. When Ray was 11. His grandmother passed away due to natural causes. She was apart of the Corp of Engineers as a civilian engineer. Her wishes were for Ray to continue on her work, and be happy in life.

Towards the end of Ray’s high school years. He began to focus on life after school. Ray’s relationship with Megan grew weak, and fragile. During his senior year he missed the Prom where he promised to take it. When he did and she found another person to take her. It crushed him, but they remain real good friends, and stay in contact.

Ray was accepted to Star Fleet Academy, and graduated near the top of his class. He was assigned to the USS New Orleans for the first two years of his service. During his time he was promoted to Ensign. When the New Orleans returned to Earth for a repair and refit. He decided he wanted to stay close to home, and be near his parents for a while. He was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. He took up a posting as a lead Repair and Refit Team Leader for the Corps of Engineers.

After the last war between the Federation and the Romulan Star Empire, Ray was given a shot at the field again. When finishing the repair work of the USS Gettysburg after it had come back from who god knows where, he was approached to take over the Engineering department as Acting Chief Engineer. His first mission as the lead of the Engineering department was a trying time as a mishap had the ship ram into a cloaked vessel. With the help of the people aboard the cloaked vessel they were able to get the Getty up and running enough to get home - save for an attempted takeover and mass murder.

After the Barzan Wormhole mission, Ray was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and assigned as the Gettysburg's permanent Chief Engineer. He has settled in to his new position well and is ready for whatever adventures may lie ahead.
