Prologue

Doctor Levine Meels was finishing some last minute preparations for the dinner party she was hosting. The party was exclusively for some of the women on the ship, as well as the Captain. This event was to be sort of a “Girls Night Out”. Spices from all over known space filled the room as the exotic cheesy sauce simmered in the far corner of the space. Each guest would provide something they enjoyed, but Levine had volunteered to provide the main course. Meat in various stages of preparation filled a tray on the table. Levine was well aware of the Captain's preference for raw meat, but also knew the other guests were more accustomed to cooked meat.

Just as the last candles were lit, Levine heard the chime at her door. Knowing the Captain would be the first to arrive, Levine wanted to personally greet hir. After sharing a rather comfortable greeting, the now flushed pair sat down and waited for the rest of the invited to arrive. Before long the room was buzzing with voices and the clatter of dishes as people arrived and started gathering food and wine.

Typical of a gathering of ladies, the entertainment of the evening became conversation – more specifically rehashing the past. All sorts of questions arose about all topics: family, schools, and of course boys. No real organization existed between the questions and answers; everyone asked a rather general question and those who wished to answer provided their story.

Levine had been rather quiet, listening to what the others had to say about their childhood or a rather embarrassing moment. Mostly, though, she was enjoying the company. The rather close proximity to Adaran helped as well. From the moment s/he had arrived Levine had been close by, never more than an arm’s length away. The doctor now found herself seated on the floor in between the Captain's legs. This had not gone unnoticed by at least one person at the party, which prompted the call-out.

From across the room, one of the nurses in sickbay asked a rather pointed question. “So, Levine, tell us about your most heated kiss.” The room became rather quiet in anticipation of some rather juicy details about others in the room. Levine felt her cheeks flush as her mind went blank trying to find the perfect story that would not involve anyone known to the present group. She wanted to look back at the face of her lover, but resisted the urge. Suddenly, the right moment sprang to mind.

“Well,” Levine began, “that kiss happened many moons ago in a tiny town you may have heard of – San Francisco.

“A Starry Kiss”

“It all began on a rather clear evening in the middle of spring. I was about seventeen years old and had just started seeing a boy named Eric. That night was our third date and I was still unsure about him. My friends knew him as a player with just one thing on his mind. I had seen a different side to him, one that was caring. It seemed he wanted to take things slow with me, but I wasn't sure what side would prevail. He had picked me up in his dark blue convertible and we set off for dinner at a seaside restaurant.

“Both of us were dressed casually. I had on an airy light blue and green dress that flared at the bottom, the kind that I might have twirled in just to watch the dress flare up. Eric's brilliant blue dress shirt brought out the steel gray of his eyes and looked remarkable against his khaki pants.

“The restaurant he chose was one of those places that would prepare anything wanted from hamburgers to fried fish to pasta and chicken. There was a very comfortable atmosphere, complete with cozy booths and a quaint area to dine with a spectacular view of the harbor. Eric had reserved a table outside so I could watch the sun set while enjoying the evening. Orders for onion rings, light salads, and chicken sandwiches were placed, and light conversation ensued.

“Dinner progressed nicely; Eric brought out his charming side and had me wrapped up in his family stories. The night seemed perfect: while the sun set in brilliant shades of orange, pink, and purple, Eric suggested a walk on the beach. We finished the amazing food, topped off with a piece of strawberry cheesecake, and headed down to the shore line.

“Just smelling the salty air was intoxicating. I have always been enthralled by the sea, and that night was no exception. The mix of the ocean, salt, and crisp clean air brought so much hope to a clouded society, or at least that was what I believed. The shore line was rather empty that evening, so once we were a short distance from the restaurant, the sounds of the sea was all we heard.

“Taking my hand, he led me down the coast a ways. Small waves rolled in from the bay, crashing on the shore just before our path. The sea seemed to stretch on for miles, and something just made the night that much more special. Stars poked out from all areas, dotting the darkening blue sky with mystery. Before long Eric led me over to a rocky area along the shore. These rocks formed a perfect place to sit and enjoy the evening, which is just what we did.

“The easy conversation at dinner continued on the beach and shifted toward talk of future plans. As he skated around many of my questions, I picked up on some tension coming from his direction. I wasn't entirely sure what was bothering him at first, but soon realized the problem centered on me. It seemed as though I made him nervous, and I had a pretty good idea why: he was looking for a way to kiss me.

“I took the situation in to my own hands and moved myself closer to him on the rocks. Gently caressing his hand with my thumb, I flashed doe eyes up to him and invited him to make a move. Eric leaned in and brushed his lips over mine ever so lightly. A small shock shivered through my body as it prepared for what came next. My hand brushed over his cheek and tucked behind his head as his lips met mine with more force. I felt his hands down my back and over my hips before I could respond. Sensations I had only imagined raced through my body as he slipped his tongue into my mouth. Intensity increased as his mouth wandered over my neck and toward my ear. My hands took on a mind of their own as they played through his hair and over his shoulders. I felt nothing but pleasure as we broke to catch our breath.

“Something changed in his demeanor as Eric realized what had happened. I first picked it up from my empathic abilities, but it soon showed up on his face. To reassure him, I pulled him a little closer for one last kiss. We soon straightened our clothes and separated just a little. With little talk we gathered our shoes and walked back toward the restaurant and his convertible, his arm over my shoulders. The ride back to my father's house was comfortable, but I could still sense the tension from him. I tried to reassure him as he pulled up to the front of the house, and he seemed to leave happy.

Epilogue

“That was the most memorable kiss I have shared in a while,” Levine finished to a crowd of interested faces. Not too much time was spent on her story before the next round of questions and responses were drawn from the group. The chatter was as light as it was before the direct question, which reassured the hostess. Many of the women had accepted the story at face value, but Levine was only interested in knowing in what her lover thought of her story. She tried to probe her lover with her empathic abilities but too much interference existed from the others in the room. The doctor would just have to wait.

As the food and wine ran low, the gathering drew to a close. It seemed as though everyone invited had a remarkable time sharing their favorite foods and girl talk. The women gathered up any dishes they wanted to take with them and began to disperse to prepare for the next day. Not long after the first guest left the cabin, Levine and Adaran were alone. No words were shared between the two before the Captain moved in on the doctor.

Sparks flew as their lips touched and hands found familiar curves. Levine's lips parted and invited hir tongue to explore. Hir tongue played over Levine’s teeth, and Levine responded with a little pressure. Labored breaths and a sense of need came from both. Adaran guided her toward the bedroom as clothes fell to the floor. Tongues explored every inch of exposed flesh like it was the first time. To say the air in Levine's cabin was heated would be an understatement.

As they finished this latest round of exploration and expression, Levine sensed the need to explain what was said earlier. “Adaran, I did not want to arouse suspicion with the crew. That is why I would not open the door to our relationship. But you have always been the most intoxicating source of pleasure I have known.” This must have been what s/he wanted to hear because the next thing Levine felt was a tongue running over her navel.
