Jeremy had become very fond of the holonovel that he had started a few weeks back. Having read partially through said novel, he felt he had to become the main character. But that was not his only reason for being there. He had fallen in love with the main character's wife, and spent all of his off duty time in the holodeck. The same was going to be with this day as it always was. Get off of his post, go to 10 Forward, then go to the holodeck to continue his novel.

He sat at his bridge console and typed in several different commands. He was one of the best officers aboard his ship, and often got to go on the away missions. That was his second favorite part of being in the Federation. His first was the holodecks on the ship. He found his love for the holodeck when he was an engineer, but was a better tactical officer than was engineer, thus he asked for a replacement position.

As he watched the chronometer, he tapped his size 13 foot, and ran his fingers through his perfect red hair. His boyish face reflected in the panel below his beefy hands. Louder and louder his foot tapping became until finally his replacement arrived. The young midshipman looking incredibly nervous. Jeremy placed his hand on the young woman's shoulders. “Relax,” said his light baritone voice. “Don't worry, there is nothing happening. You are just running some routine scans and watching for anything out of place,” he said with a grin on his face. The midshipman looked slightly less anxious. He left his post and the now in control midshipman began plugging away at the buttons on the console.

He stepped inside of a turbolift and stood directly in the middle. “Deck 10” he says and compensates for the movement of the turbolift. Finally, I get to go to the holodecks after a quick bite. I just want to finish this chapter. It is taking much longer than I would have thought, he thought to himself. When the turbolift arrived at Deck 10 he stepped out and quickly walked, almost jogged, to 10 Forward. He wanted to eat as quickly as possible. He was very excited about this next part in his novel, because now he was starting to get into the uncharted territory, the part of the book he hadn't bothered to read.

He walked through the doors of 10 Forward and slumped down in a seat next to a replicator. He wasn't particularly hungry, but with as high energy as he required for his character, he wanted to make sure he had it. “Computer, fruit platter... strawberry, watermelon, and banana. All sliced except for the banana.” The replicator buzzed and whirred and there appeared his food. He took it without hesitation, and left, eating on his way to the holodeck. He dropped by his room to quickly change his clothes, not even bothering to say hello to the woman that had been in his room waiting for him. “Jer, you realize that you haven't taken a day off from the holodeck in three days? Don't you even think about me anymore?” inquired the woman, a look of sadness in her sea blue eyes. Her tan skin running down her veluptuous body, curving at the bust and waist and pointing down at the narrow toes. “Sweetie, I'm almost done with this chapter, just give me another day or two. Okay?” But he heard no response as he left the room, leaving the gorgeous woman to weep silent for another night.

He walked into the holodeck, the black tiles and yellow lines being all too familiar with him. “Computer, begin program Alpha 3, chapter 12.” He had been reading a 21st century war novel and was now deployed into a danger zone. Quickly he loaded up an M16 and began barraging his enemy with fire, bullets whizzing all about him. He and his squad were about to breach a building. “Lieutenant, get the ram!” Quickly Lieutenant Briggs came with the battering ram and smashed the door down, but what he didn't know, is there was someone waiting for him just behind the door. As soon as it was down, five shots rang out, all hitting him square in the chest. The program froze, and he heard another voice, so familiar. Something wasn't right, the program was paused, but he was still bleeding. “Hmmm... safety protocols are funny things, you gotta be careful not to turn them off. Or don't tick off your wife who had already read the story.” Slowly the figure disappeared behind an exit and the program resumed, leaving him there to slowly feel the pain that she did.
