This article is about the Starship Pulsar. For the star type Pulsar look here.

The USS Pulsar, BB-100 was a Pulsar-class battleship assigned to the 1st Fleet. Mothballed after the Krynar War, the Pulsar was reactivated to assist in the Attack on the Borg Megasphere, where she sustained heavy damage. Scheduled to be broken up as scrap, she is currently in the queue at Surplus Depot Z15 awaiting her destruction.

Lineage

Currently serving as the Flagship of the 1st Fleet and Battle Group Alpha-1, USS Pulsar is named after the pulsar star type. A pulsar is a rapidly rotating neutron star which emits electrons at nearly the speed of light from its magnetic poles, producing an effect reminiscent of the lighthouses once used to guide maritime vessels around coastlines, shoals and reefs, or towards safe harbor. The USS Pulsar is a symbol to all who see her of Star Fleet's watchful eye over the Federation.

Pulsar was the first vessel of her class constructed and the first Federation starship to bear the name. Shortly upon her completion in 2401, the Pulsar was hijacked by the traitor Kwalin. A joint recovery team, made up of crewmembers from the USS Yoritomo and USS Valley Forge, eventually recovered the Pulsar. Despite the odds, this feat was accomplished utilizing the aging USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-E (which had been converted into a museum ship). Upon the Pulsar’s safe return to Earth, she served in a variety of roles mostly in the protection of Sector 001. She briefly acted as the personnel command of then Fleet Admiral Jonathan Beckett. After several years of service under varying Commanders, Pulsar was moved to inactive status. After a major a refit, the Pulsar launched again with a new crew, and, at last, took her rightful place as a Federation Flagship. Battle Group Alpha-1 operates out of Starbase Alpha and USS Pulsar is, in her capacity as Flagship of the 1st Fleet, ready to host Admiral Wueste at a moments notice.

Pulsar has undergone another minor refit as part of her new role protecting the Terran System.

In response to the current crisis, Pulsar has been put in active command of all fleet activity for Sector 001. Commodore Jeremy Phillips has been assigned as CO and Commander of Battle Group Alpha-1. USS Rainier, Captain Phillip's personal transport, moves key personnel and supplies between Pulsar and SBA, allowing Pulsar to remain on Sector-001 patrol with Battle Group Alpha-1, reducing the need for regular docking for routine activities.

Special Information

1st Fleet Field Office (Deck 27)

To facilitate continuity of operations, USS Pulsar is equipped with a fully staffed field based 1st Fleet operations office. The 1st Fleet Field Office is located at the heart of Deck 27, repurposing a large portion of the deck otherwise utilized for cargo, and consists of the following facilities:

-Dedicated office for the Deputy Fleet Commander and a standby facility for the Fleet Commander.
-Strategic Operations Command Center from which all Fleet activities can be monitored and coordinated. This is separate from the ship specific Strategic Operations office located on Deck 29.
-Diplomatic Conference Center with a dedicated entrance for diplomatic functions. The facility includes a large lobby area which through the use of holography appears to span several decks, a massive reception hall (suitable for any major and important gathering and ready for modifications both physical and holographic to make it appropriate for any occasion), and 14 conference rooms of varying size.

Marine Personnel

In addition to its assigned compliment of Security personnel, USS Pulsar is currently home to the I Corps 100th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). The 100th MEU is a battalion-sized unit, presently comprised of the following subordinate units:

- One Headquarters & Support Company
- Two Rifle Companies (Alpha & Bravo Companies)
- One Special Forces Company (Charlie Company)
