The USS Magellan, FSC-28019 is a Yeager-class scout, currently assigned to the Expeditionary Group based at Pioneer Outpost. Launched on Stardate 21811.15 at the San Francisco Fleet Yards, under the command of Commander Serran Zan. Magellan's three month shakedown cruise was crewed by Cadet Training Squadron 47, also known as Red Squad, under supervision of the Commander. The combined shakedown and cadet cruise culminated in travel through Transwarp Gate to Pioneer Outpost, located near the Dozaria system. Built with speed and maneuverability in mind, equipped with advanced sensors, the Magellan was to join the exploration of new territories beyond Federation Space.

Lineage
The USS Magellan was named for Portuguese explorer, Ferdinand Magellan.
Magellan was another name for the Venus Radar Mapper spacecraft, technically a robotic space probe. It was launched by Earth space organisation NASA in 1989 to map the surface of Venus using synthetic aperture radar, and to measure the planetary gravitational field.
USS Magellan, NCC-3069, was a Constellation class heavy destroyer/exploratory cruiser in Starfleet service in the 24th century.
The Galaxy Class explorer starship, USS Magellan NCC-71820, participated in Operation Return in 2374 to liberate Deep Space Nine from occupying Dominion forces.
