Personal History

.

Early Life

Judith Tucker is the youngest of three in her family. Her mother and father were hard on all three, even more so on Judith, their ‘baby’. They demanded that any of her free time be dedicated to her schooling. Any extracurricular pursuits had to be academically beneficial. They allowed her to pursue swimming, because as it developed fitness better than other sports. Judith excelled in this sport and enjoyed being a member of a team. She even helped her team win three consecutive championships.

Judith felt the pressure of doing well academically since her brother, Matthew, and sister, Joanna, both graduated at the top of their high school class. Judith did well and graduated with the top of her class, but not at the top like her sibs. School wasn’t really difficult for her, but school was boring for her. Teachers would often tell her she had more talent than her siblings.

It was difficult for Judith to have any sort of social life. Her sibs were every bit as hard on her as their parents. Judith tried sneaking out of the house to go to school activities, but this was put a stop after Matthew found out. He told her she needed to focus on her academics first, she would have time for social activities later. Judith managed to make a few close friendships from study groups or swimming though. It was these friends who turned Judith’s thoughts towards attending Star Fleet Academy. They graduated high school before her and enrolled immediately afterwards. By the time Judith graduated from high school, they’d completed their academy training. Carol became a helmsman on the USS Challenger; Brian, an engineer on the USS Yorktown; and John became a security officer, but was not told where. Her parents never discouraged Judith from attending the academy, but they never encouraged her to pursue it either. Her parents assumed she'd study medicine, even buying birthday gifts hinting towards this dream (of theirs).

Academy Years

After graduation from high school, Judith expressed her interest in attending Star Fleet Academy to her parents, to which they refused. They told her she was only being foolish with her future. It wasn’t long until they found out Judith hadn’t accepted any college acceptances. Her father refused to speak with her as her mother frantically began contacting those colleges. Judith tried speaking to them about attending the academy, but they just ignored her. She gave up and decided to move out. She didn’t take many personal items, just enough that fit in the car, and moved to San Francisco. After meeting a few cadets, she determined that she needed to be in much better shape (physically and mentally) than she was. She spent the next year preparing herself to finally enter the academy at 19 years old. She tried connecting with her family during her years. It was a slow process, but eventually her parents responded. Judith applied herself more than she’d ever done in high school, wanting to make her parents proud.

USS Gettysburg, BC 1863

Upon graduation from the academy, Judith was assigned to the USS Gettysburg under the command of Captain Torgh. She met with a few of the crew before she boarded, as the ship had arrived to base for shore leave just as she was assigned her commission. Their first mission was a difficult one, as they lost Captain Torgh during a battle for the space station they’d been sent. During the mission, Judith was assigned to the space station to help retrieve the station’s data. While there, she helped track an engineer that had seemingly lost his mind. Back on the Gettysburg’s bridge, Judith was taken hostage by a species known as Satarrans. She was injured during this confrontation and afterwards, the doctor sent her to Counselor Anna. Judith thought the counselor was nice, but only wanted to be left alone. The new assigned CO for the ship was Commander Grant. During shore leave, Judith went skiing, meeting up with several of the Gettysburg crew. While on shore leave, Captain Grant surprised her by promoting her as the Gettysburg’s Chief Science Officer.

Her second mission on the Gettysburg found herself working on a special project for her commanding officer, Captain Grant. She felt like this project would help prove herself to her new CO and didn’t really think through all of the ramifications. She enlisted the help of Johan Schwicker, one of the most talented science officers she’d met. They worked to create a living pathogen that was capable of generating a sickness among Romulan populations.

A new war between the Federation and Romulans began, and they were involved in an intense battle for Starbase 157. After an unusual anomaly, the Gettysburg managed to survive the battle.

Judith continued the earlier project, despite other orders, as she was more interested in the research and wanted to also find a cure.

Her third mission found the Gettysburg traveling to the Nehru System, searching for a scientist who was coincidentally creating a biological weapon to be used against the Romulans. It was also during this mission that she met a security officer, Charlie Fitzalan-Howard. They started a friendship that blossomed into more.

On the way to the Nehru System, Judith was confronted by the Chief Medical Officer, Commander Sevala, concerning the project she was researching. Judith tried to assure the Commander it had been destroyed as ordered. Judith wasn’t successful in her lie and eventually gave Sevala her research. When Judith found out that Commander Sevala deleted her work, Judith confronted Commander Sevala, but unfortunately, soon cowered at the presence of the commander.

The ship continued on its way to the Nehru system. Many of the Gettysburg’s crew became affected with the virus made, which transformed them into giant bees. Judith had been assigned to go to the facility, however, for some reason, ended up staying in main science. She has no memory of why she was there or who ordered her to main science. Commander Sevala found a cure for the virus, unfortunately, not before the ship lost over 400 crew.

After the mission, the crew was given a lengthy shore leave. Charlie invited her to his home in England. There were several lectures she was interested, but she decided to go with him. She was becoming more and more attracted to him, the closer he was, the more passion she felt and gave herself to him. While still on leave, they were invited to go to Greece. Upon arriving, went to a small village not far from where they were staying. Judith and Charlie were chased throughout the town. A stranger helped them get away, unfortunately sending them to an odd universe. This new universe had heard tales from strangers concerning the use of a virus and needed Judith’s help to find a cure. The mere mention of another biological virus almost sent Judith into hysterics. During this time, Judith met another gentleman, which served to only confuse her feelings for Charlie. After finding the cure for this other universe, Charlie and Judith were able to return home. After their time together, she caught up on some studies and met with Admiral Grant.

After being recalled back to the ship and briefed on their next mission, Judith reported to her doctor, Commander Sevala, for her annual check-up. It was during this check-up Judith discovered she was pregnant with twins. Judith’s emotions shot out of control. She had wanted to slow things down with Charlie. Unfortunately, before she could deal with anything, they were facing three Romulan vessels and a nebula they could not register any details. Once again, the Gettysburg was rocked hard, just as they had been during the battle for Starbase 157, unfortunately there was no anomaly to save them this time. As the battle was subsiding, the ships were caught by the nebula, bringing them through and to another point in space.

While assigned to the Gettysburg, Judith gave birth to two sons; however, one was born stillborn. The birth of her sons changed Judith’s life forever. This took a lot out of Judith, though she never acknowledged it. She put all her energy into being the ship’s department head and mother of her son: Charles Joshua (CJ), who was named after his father, Charlie, as well as Judith’s father.

She spent shore leave with Charlie and enjoyed it for the most part, though it did have its moments of tension. This was especially true when her orders to join the USS Nova came while none came through for Charlie. She was disappointed that they wouldn’t be together. She’d worked hard on being a mother and possible wife during shore leave. Being reassigned to the Nova wasn’t something she would have picked right off had she been asked. It was a much larger vessel than the Gettysburg. Fortunately, because of its size, it was more conducive for raising a family. After much deliberation, Judith chose to accept the CSO position on the Nova, although Charlie would not be with them. They all attended the celebration held for the new ship but then parted ways, CJ staying with his mother.

USS Nova

Judith’s first mission aboard the USS Nova sent them with a flotilla, to investigate a star system that seemingly “just appeared.” This ship, the Nova, was amazing. Judith couldn’t believe she was the chief of such an amazing ship. The science department alone was top notch and had every upgrade one could wish for.

After arriving to this new star system, a new race was discovered. They seemed to be from the alternative world the USS Gettysburg had recently visited. They called themselves Gondwanan and looked something like a lobster. First contact procedures were implemented immediately. In the midst of the mission, the USS Philadelphia joined our flotilla. We soon found out Commander Yvette was being promoted and became the CO of the USS Philadelphia. Our flotilla continued talks with the Gondwanans and it was discovered they had a strange mutation with some of their race. This mutation made some of them very aggressive. The Gondwanan government (a monarchy) eventually agreed to allow us to investigate this mutation. The mutated beings launched a beam towards the Nova, and successfully struck. This hit knocked the Nova out of commission. The Nova was evacuated to other ships in the flotilla, including the USS Pegasus. The evacuation period was an emotional one, as Judith was separated from her son. They were eventually reunited on board the USS Pegasus. It was during moments like this, high stress and separated from her son, Judith had been experiencing possible an empathetic connection with her son. She could hear him call out for her in her mind, just as Charlie had done reached out to her. She finally

Once things had calmed, Judith found out her friend, Nicholas Ristone, had been promoted to be the CO of the Pegasus. He asked Judith to transfer to the Pegasus, which, after some thinking, she agreed.

USS Pegasus

Their first mission found their new ship headed to the Carraya System to investigate a distress call. Once in the system, they were attacked by an unusual weapon emitting an EM-type field which limited the ship’s communications and sensors. Eventually, the Pegasus was forced in two pieces. The Pegasus’s bridge was soon boarded by a group of Klingon’s demanding surrender. Judith watched as Captain Ristone was thrown like a rag doll across the bridge, towards the science station. She stayed silent, trying to protect the captain along with her science officer, Lieutenant Robinson. She couldn’t stay silent long and fired upon the Klingons before they were lost. Firing on the Klingons, she found they exploded uncharacteristically, sending body shrapnel everywhere.

Other Pegasus crew started firing upon the Klingons and after an exhausting battle, they cleared the bridge. The injured were taken to sickbay, Judith only excusing herself once others were taken care of. Once Judith was in sickbay, she nearly collapsed. A medical officer named G-36 began treatment and discovered the fluids that sprayed from the Klingons bodies were acidic of some sort and attacked Judith’s system. She survived, her heart having been rebuilt with foreign bodies from the Klingons. The doctors were convinced everything was fine and a heart transplant was not needed.

The Pegasus limped slowly to Starbase Delta, where the crew enjoyed a six-week shore leave. Judith stayed busy, catching up with her son CJ, whom she had to leave behind during the last mission. After time on Delta, Judith mustered the courage to return home and finally introduce CJ to her family. This visit took a lot out of her, as her parents tried to talk her into quitting Star Fleet.

Always wanting to learn more, she also spent time on shore leave attending a few lectures while on earth. This kept her busy and before long, she was recalled back to the USS Pegasus before getting to see Charlie.

The next mission on board the Pegasus sent them to exploring the Dalmatia system with a task force of vessels. This mission found many of the crew affected by a microorganism, affecting their perceptions of reality. The Pegasus crew was divided as a team attempted in mutiny. Judith was again thankful the talented scientist Schwicker was on their side as he had been able to create an antidote. Unfortunately, it wasn’t before the death of Commander Cooper.

Judith was still unsure how the natives of Weyden controlled them and more importantly how Star Fleet would respond to this entire mess. Mutiny wasn’t something that would they would simply erase and Judith feared this would be the end of her career. Thankfully, Star Fleet finally cleared the crew and allowed normal activities. Judith and CJ were enjoying their shore leave, catching up after a miserable mission. She was still experiencing empathetic feelings from CJ, but kept it quiet.

While on shore leave, they attended the launch of the USS Chin’toka. The launch didn’t go as planned. The Chin’toka was taken by a group of terrorists, leaving several ships from the 4th fleet (Pegasus, Philadelphia, Yeager and James Madison) to follow in pursuit. Oddly enough, the Chin’toka doubled back, passing the ships who were chasing, and were on a collision course for Delta. The Pegasus beamed security to the Chin’toka, hoping to be able to seize control from the hijackers. It was a tough battle and the Pegasus had a difficult decision at the end, continue to pursue the hijackers or to rescue Admiral Grayson, who had been shot into space. They quickly picked up the Admiral, which allowed the hijackers to escape.

USS Avenger, NCC-1500

Judith and CJ found themselves moving to a new home, this time on board the USS Avenger under Captain Grant, but another Grant. This one looked the same and in some respect was the same, and yet, he was different. Judith watched her friend, Tyra, be promoted from being Chief of Security to the First Officer. Judith had stayed friends with several past crew members, but many had been transferred to other commissions or have even quit Star Fleet. Tyra was one who had served with Judith on almost every single commission.

Their first mission took them to the Gamma Quadrant, to try negotiation with the Dominion for Ketracel White as well as seeking their help against the Krynar. Negotiations stalled and it was discovered that the Dominion the Avenger was tasked with talking with had been under the Krynar.

The next mission on the Avenger, they were sent for a standard basic patrol along the Tholian border. After passing near the Halless system, the Avenger picked up a distress signal from a probe orbiting Halless I. The senior members of the crew were sent on the James Madison to retrieve the probe. This simple retrieval mission went to dangerous in mere seconds as their vessel lost all power, launching them towards the surface. Their pilot, Jenny Braggins, maneuvered the ship better than anyone could have in that situation, however, they still ended up crashing and had way too many damages to the ship as well as crew. Their first challenge was simply exiting everyone out of the ship and finally, they managed. Once outside, Judith and the others watched a flying dinosaur-like creature grab Tyra and fly away. The remaining crew ventured towards finding their lost member. They managed to find Tyra and were finally successful in contacting the Avenger, getting transported away just before they were overrun by villagers.

The next mission the Avenger found themselves in was a part of a reaction from Star Fleet against the Krynar. While traveling to their destination, Judith’s friend and First Officer became Commanding Officer of the Avenger. There wasn’t any time to celebrate her friend’s promotion though, as the Avenger was quickly assigned a task: to liberate the Tellar from the Krynar. Azernal came through in the clutch for the Avenger in a battle that saw many die from the Krynar’s Enlightenment.

The shore leave after this battle wasn’t long as the Avenger was recalled soon as the fight continued against the Krynar. During the battle, the Avenger found itself being attacked by the USS Ticonderoga (due to their CO being influenced by what was assumed to be Krynar). The Ticonderoga’s graser weapon destroyed one of the Avenger’s nacelle but that was all, as the ship paused on firing more against the Avenger. After all this chaos, it was determined to fire this graser weapon at the Krynar home system, which destroyed the entire system and everyone (Krynar and others) within.

Once again, Judith’s past involvement with a possible race killing virus came back to her. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t forget what had done and what could have happened. She was never sure who knew what she had studied, though she knew her friend Tyra was one of them who was aware. She wished she could just bury it forever, however, she knew as a scientist nothing stays buried forever.

The Avenger was stolen by original crew members wanting to return to their universe. The Avenger was disabled, which eventually landing the Avenger into retirement, and the Voltaire was used to chase down those who were in charge of the hijacking, however instead of capturing them, the hijackers shuttle was destroyed and no one survived. At same time, the USS Gettysburg, attacked the Voltaire. Judith and the rest of the remaining crew from the Avenger were left without a home. Judith wondered if her career would end there. She didn’t feel ready to say goodbye, but this last mission had taken a lot out of not only the crew, but she and her son as well. She was still dealing with CJ’s possible empathic abilities and not well.

USS Gettysburg II

Judith found herself once again in familiar surroundings, being commissioned back to the USS Gettysburg. She was thankful to be continuing her career and it seemed fitting to have CJ with her on the ship that found Judith in love with his father. She and Charlie still spoke, but now it was only a cordial friendship and not the love Judith thought she’d found. She was thankful for what came from their short love affair though, as now Judith wouldn’t know what to do without her son near her.

Her first mission after returning to the Gettysburg was a training mission, sending the senior crew members to the forest world of Ryla. This wasn’t the most pleasant time for Judith. While she always had enjoyed learning, this training scenario turned into what seemed like a hunting session…with the Gettysburg crew being the hunted. After they were recovered, Judith found that one of her best and brightest officers, Zephyr Praise, had left them in the middle of this training. This hurt Judith more than she’d realized as Zephyr didn’t even explain her reasoning to Judith. Judith tried to always be encouraging to her officers, but to not even have a note hurt.

Judith and the Gettysburg continued though, and Judith felt this was really were she was meant to be. They went through other missions, finding themselves sent to “No Man’s Land” and being attacked by some sort of rockbirds. This has kept Judith busy, studying and understanding what they were. She started to keep more extensive notes than ever before, which would find her awake many a night. Between this and raising her now 8-year-old son, she kept busy.
