The Triannons are a humanoid species from the planet Triannon, located in the Muratas Star Cluster inside the Delphic Expanse.

Though they had achieved spaceflight, it took one of their ships a year to travel 6.3 light years.

  • Additionally, they did not have transporters, nor did they have any experience with them.

(as of the 22nd century)

At the time of first contact, the Triannons were a people of strong religious faith.

They believed that the Delphic Expanse Spheres were created by gods they called the "Makers". They believed the Delphic Expanse was the "Chosen Realm" of the "Makers", who were supposedly using the spatial anomalies ("the Makers' Breath") to reshape space to create a paradise in anticipation of their eventual return. They claimed there were thousands of spheres, though the Xindi estimations showed that there were only 78.

The Triannons prayed to the the Spheres, and often took months-long pilgrimages to see them. To the Triannons, traveling through a sphere's cloaking barrier, landing on it, or going inside it, were all acts of desecration, punishable by death.

Among their beliefs included an aversion to invasive medical care, therefore disallowing detailed bioscans, though this may have been a ploy.

In the mid-21st century, a religious war broke out on Triannon between the major factions of their religion.

  • One faction believed that the Chosen Realm was created in nine days
  • Distinctive by red tattoos on the right side of the face
  • The other faction believed the creation took ten days
  • These followers wore black markings on the left of the face

In early 2153, the war ended with the planet in ruins. Both sides were decimated, as were all major cities on the planet, and millions of people dead.

A group of Triannons serving on one ship was unaware of this however, as they had been on a pilgrimage to one of the Spheres.

  • They hijacked the Enterprise, using powerful organic explosives laced within their bodies.
  • They had planned to use the more powerful starship to end the war once and for all
  • Following a brief battle, the Enterprise crew successfully took the ship back to their homeworld, showing them what what the religious war had done

The status of the Triannons is currently unknown
