Personal History

Imrix was born and raised on Trillus Prime, in the up-country province of Gadala. He demonstrated an interest and talent for mechanical and electromechanical devices at an early age. He grew to believe that becoming joined was not only a good thing, but would expand his understanding of physics and science. He worked hard and studied harder to be selected for joining. He received scholarships in Astrophysics, Warp Drive Theory, and Warp Drive Engineering, and achieved Premier Distinction in Astrophysics and Warp Drive Engineering. In the end, though, becoming joined came down to being in the right place at the right time.

Trem’s third host, Tekron the bartender, was aboard the Andorian transport ship Ozara along with two Cardassians, two Anticans, a Lurian named Vork, and a Klingon named AvarQ.

When Tekron was having a drink with one of the Cardassians (Gul Dura'en), the other Cardassian, Stalnok, tried to poison Gul Dura'en. Instead, he poisoned Tekron Trem. The host died even as Gul Dura'en killed Stalnok. Fortunately, the Andorian medic, Dr. Thunak Kolmi, knew about trill.

AvarQ was on his way to Starbase 118 where he would transfer to a Federation ship heading to Earth, on his way to Star Fleet Academy. Starbase 118 was still 3 days away, though; the symbiont wouldn't survive that long without a host. Due to religious reasons, the Anticans refused to host the symbiont. The Andorians on ship claimed they were incompatible. That left the Cardassian, the Klingon or the Lurian. The Cardassian refused outright, so Dr. Thunak decided the Klingon was the only choice. Fortunately, the Klingon had been drinking bloodwine heavily, and didn't quite understand what he was letting himself in for. The transplant was successful, and for the 3-day journey to Starbase 118, the trill was AvarQ Trem. By the time they reached the starbase, however, the Klingon's body had begun to reject the symbiont.

Imrix was on his way to a transwarp research conference on Bilana III aboard a Federation transport ship, U. S. S. Odyssey, stopping over at Starbase 118 to take on other scientists.

There were two other Trill on the starbase at the time, Vidar Rond and Sovan Nox, but both were already joined. For lack of better authority, the two trill and the CMO of the starbase agreed to the transplant of the symbiont into Imrix.

The transfer was just in time, and was successful, but because Imrix hadn't undergone the Initiate Training for joining, he was directed back to Trill for evaluation. His evaluation was brief and positive, but he'd already missed the conference. Now that he was joined, however, he immediately applied for admission to Star Fleet Academy. He didn't expect to make it into that year's class, but an unexpected opening occurred, and because of his field of study, he was fast-tracked to the academy.

Trem’s Third Host: Tekron was the previous host. He was a skilled bartender, and had tended bar in most of the quadrant at one time or another over his 52-year career. Tekron had been interested in meeting and learning about new cultures, especially as it pertained to the recreational liquids each culture consumed, and never stayed in one place for more than a few years. He had been in transit aboard an Andorian transport ship and drinking kanar with a Cardassian acquaintance when he was poisoned. The poison had been intended for the Cardassian by another Cardassian.

Trem’s Second Host: Nura was the host previous to Tekron. She was a highly skilled and talented interior designer, and the mother of three (two boys and a girl). She won the prestigious Corlliss Award for Design 7 times over a 10-year span. She was particularly interested in the Earth design concept of Feng Shui, and applied it to her design techniques. She died of old age at 91.

Trem’s First Host: Zandril was the host prior to Nura and the first host of the Trill symbiont Trem. Zandril was a doctor specializing in exo-biology, and had a successful if unspectacular career in medicine. He developed transporter psychosis after using a Cardassian transporter. He died after being subjected to triolic energy.

On his first ship assignment, the Copernicus, and his first away mission, to a newly discovered water world, Imrix Trem encountered the P’ah’lai, an intelligent water-breathing lifeform. One of the other creatures of the world stung him, injecting him with a mutagenic toxin, and he underwent a metamorphosis. His body grew gills so that he could breathe underwater, too. It was a way that the life on the planet helped visitors adapt. Unfortunately, the transformation went too far, and when he was transported back to the Copernicus, he discovered that his lungs could no longer breathe air. After an emergency transport to sickbay and an intron reversal procedure by LtCdr Kinziri Jal (the Copernicus’ CMO and a fellow trill), Imrix was returned to normal.

Recently, while on Starbase Bravo, he helped Lt. J’all Keless handle his untrained telepathy by accepting a telepathic download from J’all. Due to certain sideband bleed-off from another telepath, however, Imrix lost control of the ‘voices in his head’. When the other telepath learned of what she’d done, she fixed the problem and apologized profusely. He still doesn’t remember what went on during that time.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Engineering
Academy Minor(s): Science, Tactical
Hobbies and Pastimes: Captain Proton holo-novel sims, springball, transwarp research
Short-Term Goals: Be a member of Star Fleet; if not, then be an engineer on a starship
Long-Term Goals: Explore the galaxy; if not in Star Fleet, then as an independent; be on the research team that develops transwarp
Personality: Outgoing except when talking about himself, then he gets introverted. He seems to have developed an empathy for Klingons, particularly Avark. Whenever Imrix is around a Klingon, he begins acting like a Klingon himself
Sense of Humor: Likes subtle humor
Phobias: Tight, dark crawl spaces
Likes: Bloodwine (a carry over from his brief joining with a Klingon), Klingon opera, Algolian ceremonial rhythms (he finds them relaxing), kal-toh, warp drive tech manuals and transwarp research reports
Dislikes: Kanar, Cardassians (he knows his dislike of Cardassians is due to some unpleasant incidents involving them though it wasn't their fault, and does his best to put these feelings aside)
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Incompetent people
Bad Habits or Vices: Talks too much
Achievements: Premier Distinction in transwarp physics in Trill studies; being accepted to Star Fleet
Disappointments: Didn't get chosen to be joined because of merit, but opportunity
Illnesses: None
Strengths: Extensive knowledge in several fields, including medicine and bartending; hard worker; intuitive engineer
Weaknesses: Not overly ambitious, not much of a combatant
Fears: His only fear is becoming incompetent
Prejudices: Cardassians. He knows this is irrational, but since a Cardassian killed his third host, he can’t quite help it. He suspects this prejudice comes from the symbiont
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Dark brown, khaki, or nutmeg brown jumpsuits. Will wear maroon or dark blue jumpsuits for more formal occasions
Distinguishing Features: Dark brown trill spots along both sides of his body from temple to toes
Pets: None
Friends: Avark
