Personal History
Audrey and Theo were born to Sandra and Galileo Thorne, the owners Dogwood Interstellar Trading. DIT was a small transport company based on Centauri Station Tango that specialized in transporting fuels.
The twins got the inside look at trading as they often spent a lot of time at the company’s head offices. Sandra and Galileo were amused by the fact that Audrey seemed to pick up bits and pieces of the many languages heard on trading port such as Station Tango. The twins got into mischief on the station, as siblings do, though of the pair Audrey seemed to get into trouble the most, always looking for the next adventure. The twins did average in school. Theo seemed to excel at any work that required his hands, like mechanics, engineering, and geological sciences. Audrey shined when it came to languages. She seemed to pick new languages up easily, and so her parents put her into many language courses, as the station’s Education centre would offer. Audrey soon discovered that what made technology work was also a sort of language, and she took to engineering with her brother. They began building their own technologies, eventually creating a new program that reduced redundancies in their parent’s shipping business. Ever the joker, Theo had a habit of egging his sister on into hacking into various systems on the station so that they could play pranks on people.
When the twins were 12, the Orion Syndicate killed their parents. DIT had recently expanded to a new trade route, one that the Syndicate seemed to think infringed on their own holdings. So the Orions eliminated their competition. Audrey and Theo went into the care of their grandparents, while their uncle Stavros temporarily as CEO of DIT.
Theo dedicated himself to learning the business, wanting to honour their parents memory by making DIT even better than before. He eventually went on to get an MBA degree, working on some of the family’s freighters during school breaks to get hands on experience. At 25 he eventually took over the company.
As for Audrey, she focused on linguistics and engineering. At 17, Star Fleet came calling and recruited her into their Engineering division. Two years into her career, she dropped out of the Academy, feeling turned off by the system. Audrey felt as though people in the Fleet had to “drink the kool aid” in order to serve, and—despite her typically optimist demeanor—found that it wasn’t a great environment to foster discourse and opposing opinions. She transferred to the Vulcan Sciences Institute, where she completed a degree in linguistics and xeno-engineering.
Along the way she began a very lucrative career as a hacker, sometimes taking on jobs as a “white hat” for legitimate work, other times challenging herself to break into more dangerous and more secure installations. Through this she became known for reverse engineering various technologies, working at times for some various not so legitimate organizations.
