Personal History

Born on the black soil plain in western New South Wales, Australia, Thomas spent his childhood in the small town community of Nyngan on the Bogan River, mixing with the local Aboriginal and European peoples. He was the only child of an elderly couple Jack and Doreen Stack. He showed great aptitude in school and was always at the top of his classes.

During his time in university studying medicine, his parents died a year a part. He was devastated and he took a year out of his studies to return and live in his home town. During this time he discovered that his father had been an engineer on the USS Endeavour and he made a decision that year to join Starfleet and explore the universe. He curtailed this ambition for some years when he took a post in an outback community to serve as the local Doctor. A further delay to his joining Starfleet was an accident involving a fresh water crocodile that bit his right hand off. The hand could not be recovered and a mechanical hand that was indistinguishable from his left hand was attached. He finally attended Starfleet Academy when he was thirty one. By that time he had married Unapinggoo (Une for short) a young Aboriginal woman. Being a full blood tribal Aborigine she refused to leave the Wirraggeri tribal lands and so they mutually agree to stay married and pursue their dreams, Thomas’s as a Starfleet Doctor and Une his tribal wife and as a elder of her people. They were constantly in touch and saw each other whenever they had the opportunity. Whilst Thomas was returning from a mission, Unapinggoo was accidentally kill by crocodile whilst swimming and there was a Star Fleet stuff up when the message of her death was not received by Thomas until six week after. On a leave of absence he dealt with the crocodile the tribal way. He killed it. But not a person to kill for revenge and not wanting to offend is wife’s tribal elders; he secretly revived the crocodile and released it back into the wild in a national park far away. Thomas was appointed Chief Science Officer on the USS Drake and after some time became attracted to a new officer Tala Thaine. But this relationship never reached its full potential. They still keep contact. During the next mission, in a tense situation when the Captain and First officer had been abducted, Thomas had a heated exchange with the Acting Commanding Officer and refused an order. This came to the attention of the Captain after she was returned. In an interview where Thomas felt he was being reprimanded for doing the right thing he resigned as Chief Science Officer transferred to the academy to train as a counselor, with the aim to be transferred to another ship. Thomas was a fine medical doctor, but he discovered a new talent in counseling, a life changing experience. After graduating from the Academy with high distinctions, he protested long and hard to no avail when he was assigned as Chief Counselor of the USS Drake, the flag ship of the 3rd Exploration Group commanded by the same Captain, now a Rear Admiral. A short time later the Drake was suddenly and inexplicable decommission, with the Rear Admiral and First Officer transferred. The crew where transferred to a refitted USS Dauntless under Captain Wong. Thomas had a hard time readjusting to a new ship, and because of his cheeky Australian nature, things did not go well. Thomas transferred to the USS Sheridan under Captain Dramar as a both medical officer and counselor and found himself doing medical duties more than counseling. Thomas realized his true love was medicine. The CMO’s position became vacant on the USS Gettysburg and after applying, he was offered the position
