Personal History

Geo was born in Santa Monica, California, United States, Earth, but his family moved a lot when he was younger so he didn’t stay there long.

He struggled in school when a move was particularly difficult for him, partly from the boredom of being placed in classes well below his learning potential rather than lack of intelligence. He would stare out the window lost in thought. Sometimes he even failed classes, having to make them up in summer school or night classes.

He eventually was able to get accepted to the University of California at Berkley after attending the local community college for two years. He was able to choose courses he preferred and reveled in the freedom of choosing his own schedule and living his own life. The lack of true friends and solitude began to take its toll though. He felt much more alone than he truly was. He did have some friends, not close friends, but they were friends, sort of. There was still an emptiness and a lack of belonging that he desperately needed.

One day while on campus, he came across a Star Fleet recruiting booth. He had seen this booth many times throughout the year, but that day was different. He felt almost drawn to the booth as if a moth to a flame. He found himself completely enthralled with the adventure and opportunities Star Fleet offered, and agreed to enlist after graduation.

Star Fleet was holding an introductory class on weapons on campus to generate interest and help build a relationship with the students to help recruiting endeavors. The last week of the class, students were paired up and issued a phaser to use during a one day target practice. Geo’s partner did not know that Geo had already activated the phaser and jokingly fired towards Geo’s shoulder accidentally hitting him above the left eye area. Needless to say, UC Berkley does not allow Star Fleet to offer this course on campus anymore.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Astronomy, Physics, Diplomacy
Academy Minor(s): Security, Engagement Strategies
Hobbies and Pastimes: Martial Arts, reading, playing games, participating in contests of every sort, including athletic events
Short-Term Goals: To make and develop long-lasting friendships
Long-Term Goals: To achieve significant success and recognition in Star Fleet, and build a stable life for himself and his future family
Personality: Kind, caring of others, loyal, honest, non-judgmental, disciplined and committed in everything he attempts or pursues. Competitive, but isn’t annoying in his competitiveness. He just enjoys the challenge and has a good time with it
Sense of Humor: Has a very good sense of humour. Knows when to be funny and knows when to be serious
Phobias: Amusement park rides
Likes: Enjoys adventure, new experiences, and making new friends
Dislikes: People who say they are going to do something, but don’t do it. People who try to fit people into a particular type, before ever getting to know that person
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Assuming people
Achievements: Recently received his Yellow Belt in martial arts
Disappointments: With everything that he has accomplished, he has always ended up taking the long-way to that end instead of the easy-way. This has led to a lot of frustration and disappointment along the way. Better late than never though
Illnesses: Has never had any significant illnesses, but was recently involved in a miss-firing of a phaser from another person that hit him in the face, barely missing his left eye. This caused significant damage to his skin and tissue, but didn’t cause any serious permanent damage. He was very lucky
Strengths: Good motivator, leader, and is very organized
Weaknesses: Honest to a fault. Lacks tact at times
Fears: Fears not living up to the standards he has set for himself due to causes out of his control
Prejudices: None
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: He is rarely out of uniform, but when he is, he wears the latest Earth trends in casual clothing
Distinguishing Features: A barely noticeable skin discoloration, approximately 2 inches long and very thin, curves around the upper edge of the outside of his left eye area and penetrates slightly into his eyebrow
Pets: None
Friends: His family moved around a lot when he was younger so it was difficult for him to form lasting relationships with friends. He essentially doesn’t have a best friend, but it doesn’t mean he isn’t looking for one

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: While growing up, he didn’t live in one place for more than a year and a half or so. As soon as he was settled in the new school, his family would move again. The pain of losing his newly made friends combined with the fear of a new school, for a then shy boy, was unbearable at times. Yet, he had little choice in the matter. This lack of control began to breed a sort of helplessness in him which quickly faded when he was old enough to make his own choices
Best Time: When he became old enough to make his own decisions, the freedom he felt was immeasurable. He was finally free! Not that his parents had been bad parents. He just felt free to choose and do as he pleased
Most Crucial Experience: Being shot in the head really made him think about what could have been had he not been so lucky. He had always taken his health for granted. Even though he was not seriously wounded, his entire outlook changed. He no longer takes health or life for granted. He knows that every moment is precious and important, and that it’s important to live in the moment and enjoy today, whatever that day may bring
Role Model: Numerous Star Fleet captains that he’s read about in his spare time
