Personal History

Ava was born in the capital city of Relinark on the home planet of Ullian. Her father was a well renowned scientist specializing in Neurophysiology, immunology, biology and the like. Her mother died tragically in child birth for reasons that, for most of her life, was a mystery.

As Ava grew older and began her studies she baffled her teachers at how quickly she learned. The clan of the Relinarkos soon approached and accepted her into training to become an Adept.

Her studies were intense as she was bombarded with teachings on homeopathic medicine, martial arts and the now fabled ability to manipulate and remove memories from other people's minds. Meanwhile, when at home she would spend hours watching her father at the kitchen table conducting all sorts of 'off the chart' experiments.

It got to a point where her father became obsessed with his work, often leaving Ava to feed, cloth and look after herself. Then one day her father asked her to assist him in a simple neural study. He hooked her up to machines and did a number of experiments on her. This became an ongoing thing. At first they were mild but very quickly became invasive.

Over time her teachers and even neighbours began to notice. She would come to school with marks and burns on her arms and temples. Some days her eyes would be blood shot and she would often be tired as if she hadn't slept. One of her teachers contacted the local Chaplain and reported the abuse. Upon investigation the Chaplain removed her from his custody and placed her in a foster home. She was ten years old at the time and didn't fully understand why.

Ava proceeded to go from one foster home to the next until graduation of her studies. Her councilors often said that, due to what she had been forced to endure for all those years, she was like a hardened war veteran in a teenager's body.

Despite all of these set backs she managed to finish her studies and became a full fledged Adept. She began working with the Relinarkos clan to teach students with her skills leaning more towards a natural ability to heal. After time she was approached and asked to take part in 'The Sacrifice'. The Adepts were the only true family she had known. Throughout her foster life Adept schooling was the only constant and this forced her decision to accept.

Ava was travelling to meet with the clan leaders to partake in their proposal when she was approached by one of her Adept teachers name Silo't. This woman claimed that she had known her mother and that the Relinarkos clan leaders had asked her father to experiment on her whilst pregnant with Ava. It had lead to her death in child birth. Silo't claimed that the Relinarkos clan leaders were only a few of the many but they believed the research was for the greater good of the planet as a whole. It had been done in secret. In time they felt it would increase the mental abilities and strengths of their people. For Ava the effects wore off as she hit puberty and as such the research was classed as a failure.

It had prompted her father to experiment on her further which soon lead to his custody being revoked.

Shocked and sickened Ava went into hiding and became a recluse. She remained this way for six months, spending her time working to obtain information to validate or disprove Silo't's story. Eventually she visited her father who had made a life for himself on the outskirts of the city. Uncertain of the reception that she would get she was surprised that when she confronted him he came forth with the story. Silo't had been telling the truth.

Having lost the last 'family' she had even known Ava took what few belongings she had, travelled to the shipping docks and bought the first fare she could get her hands on. It was a freighter bound for Earth. In her long trip she encountered a Starfleet Officer who was returning from leave. He had cut himself badly on a piece of metal jutting out from one of the bulk heads. She tended to him and he surprised her by suggesting that with her 'talents' she should think of applying to Starfleet Academy upon reaching Earth. For the weeks that they travelled together he told her stories of the Federation and Starfleet and of his own career.

In her search for purpose to her life and a need for 'family' she joined Star Fleet and in time graduated as a Doctor.
