Personal History

Sabrin's life had been normal for an Andorian with parents in the Imperial Guard. He stayed aboard the ship his zhen and chan parents and recieved and education there. When they died, he was sent to stay with his brother, who was 20 and a lieutenant (basis in xenolinguistics) at the time. Because of his brother's status in the military, he was able to have him live aboard the ship, as their chan and thaan parents were considered too 'incapacitated' to take care of Sabrin at the time.

Due to their clan's odd tradition of sending all zhens and chans to the Imperial Guard, and all thaans and shens to Star Fleet, that was Sabrin's future. Sabrin, upon remembering this, was far, far from pleased and made it quite clear. After a very heated and agonizingly long lecture from his brother, Sabrin did silence his protesting. This was mainly because Roan offered him education in whatever career choice he wanted. Sabrin then immediately wanted to know who could get to the captain rank the fastest. Instead, Sabrin got a very basic skeleton of how the military ranking structure worked in Star Fleet. Sabrin, being only 7, then wanted to know who was the most important to a captain. Another lecture later, Sabrin concluded he was either going to be an engineer or doctor, for, as he put it "both have to learn lots and lots could die if they mess up." But when he heard that a doctor could become Chief Medical Officer, he was sold--a CMO could technically dub the captain unfit for duty, which, to Sabrin, meant he outranked the captain in power.

In between the ages of 7~18, Sabrin mainly studied to become a doctor. If he wasn't studying, he was with friends or his brother when he was free. Being Andorian, when Sabrin wasn't studying or being social, he received combat training. But, shockingly enough, Sabrin's life was not as static as it comes off to be. Since Sabrin lived on an Imperial Guard ship, it is no surprise the precious hunk of military metal was attacked. It wasn't until Sabrin was 9 did he develop his fear of rocking ships. This was because he had grown to admire and befriend Yaekai'sei sh'Matoas, a young engineer (~18). When they were attacked by Klingons, Sei was mercilessly thrown about the ship. Sabrin witnessed her get tossed head-first into a wall, dying rather unpleasantly but instantly. Although Sabrin was accustomed to death, witnessing it first hand made it all the more real and horrifying. Since then, any time a ship rocks with enough force to make one weary of their drink, he pales. Anything more than that and he'll want a drink. Sabrin has learned to master the fear so he can still function as a doctor, but once things are stable and safe, as stated, he heads straight for the bar. He will never admit that he was scared. Instead, his reasoning is to 'celebrate that our ship avoided death yet again.' Sabrin is fully aware it's stupid to be on a ship with such a fear, but again, he will never admit he's afraid and he hopes to completely get over it one day.

When Sabrin was 14, he had to say good bye to his best friend, Giadoklaesio ch'Tokla. His childhood friend was transferring to another ship. They had grown very close and some had honestly considered the two would grow up to be in the same quad at least. Sabrin was, of course, greatly saddened by his friend leaving, but they swore to keep in touch and so far, that promise is still going strong.

At 16, Sabrin met Nagyakal sh'Saous. She was a transfer, sent in to replace a physicist who died of a phase pulse infection. They quickly grew close to one another. They're bonding process began within a year of their first meeting and things looked to be going well for them. Unfortunately, the Spirits of love rarely smiled on Sabrin. Kal went on a landing party to explore a newly-discovered planet. The planet ended up proving hostile and the entire party was killed. Because their bond was nearing half-formation, the shock was not enough to permanently give him anhedonia. Still, Sabrin was affected by it and the affects can still be seen. The most notable is his very clingy attitude towards his brother. Yet, through all the misery, Sabrin is still able to smile and enjoy life, though he does slip back into depression if his mind isn't occupied.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Xenobiology and Psychology
Academy Minor(s): Xenolinguistics and art
Hobbies and Pastimes: He absolutely loves to read and write. If you give him a book, he will pick it up and talking to him then becomes something akin to talking to a brick wall. Sabrin also has fun drawing, but even a Ferengi wouldn't try to rip somebody off with his work. Interestingly enough, he's very good with miniatures. In fact, don't show him your room unless you want to see a miniaturized version on your desk weeks later. He also enjoys talking to people and socializing. When off duty, if he is not being creative, he will probably be found chatting with people in the recreational rooms. Anything that will keep him busy.
Short-Term Goals: To complete at least a novella and get it published
Long-Term Goals: Become chief medical officer and renowned writer, though he is reconsidering such because if he's CMO, he may not go on landing parties and will probably have to give up writing. That and his fears of rocking ships isn't showing any sign of getting better.
Personality: When not occupied with something, he becomes melancholy. But, if doing something (such as work or socializing), he does seem like a near-chipper man. He's very dedicated and protective--sometimes a bit too overprotective--with those he cares for. Sabrin is often mistaken for 'that quiet guy in the corner' until you talk to him. He can quickly become 'that guy who won't shut up' when you gain his trust. Especially about his niece--he gushes over her. But like any Andorian, of course, Sabrin will become incredibly emotional when provoked, especially his anger. But all-in-all, he's a protective but friendly, sometimes sarcastic, if not occasionally depressed guy. He can be considered a workaholic as well, simply because he is compelled to always be busy.
Sense of Humor: Moderate. He likes jokes and enjoys comedies and dark humor, but has little patience for teasing, even if it is friendly. Unless it's sarcasm. He loves sarcastic remarks. Especially if he's the one saying them. Prank-wise, such is probably the dumbest thing to pull on him. He absolutely hates it when people prank him for no reason and can be rather cruel in retaliation. Example: Have a bucket of water land on him when he enters his room, expect a bucket of week-old milk landing on you. He's sometimes creative with how they play-out, so the best you can do to prepare yourself is imagine what you did to him worsened tenfold.
Phobias: Moderate rocking in ships--he'll want to cling to a ceiling when going through an asteroid belt but will resist.
Likes: Reading, writing, learning, exploring and socializing.
Dislikes: Botany, ice cream, hats, botany, loud noises, being reminded of his bad grade in botany.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Vulcans--he believes their extreme repression is unhealthy, people talking to him while he reads or writes, being asked to do something after saying 'no,' and teasing.
Bad Habits or Vices: Saving his brother, becoming a doctor and writing short stories that entertain his friends and family.
Achievements: Saving his brother, becoming a doctor and writing short stories that entertain his friends and family.
Disappointments: Failing at putting his brother in a head-lock and getting a C+ on his botany exam.
Illnesses: Insomnia and the occasional anhedonia.
Strengths: He is excellent with detail, has amazing dexterity, is very protective and keeps to his word.
Weaknesses: Loud noises, strong smells, having nothing to do throws him back into depression, will proudly accept a challenge (even if it means eating salt-and-vinegar chips) and his pride.
Fears: Losing his brother and niece, coming face-to-face with Klingons, Gorn (they make him nervous)
Prejudices: He tries to deny it, but he really doesn't like Tellerites. Bit of a prejudice to Romulans as well.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Functional. Will probably wear a short sleeved shirt and long sleeved shirt; his two human friends greatly influenced his fashion. Anything with long sleeves, really, though it being accompanied by a vest or short-sleeved shirt is always nice. The necklace his niece (age 6) made for him can be visible, and it's a leather-like cord with a thick, silver bead in the center, two blue beads to the left, three white beads to the right.

Distinguishing Features: His nose is a little crooked to the left due to too many attempts at being a 'ninja' to his brother. ...Considering they're Andorian, his nose is proof as to why sneaking up does not work (and just how strong his brother is).
Pets: None
Friends: Three. Two Humans: Oceana Fleur and Nick Gabyts and a fellow Andorian, Giadoklaesio ch'Tokla. His two Human friends come from the Star Fleet academy and his Andorian friend from Andoria, who is currently serving in the Imperial Guard. He keeps in contact with all three, constantly updating them on how he's doing what not.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: Losing his half-bonded mate, Nagyakal sh'Saous.
Best Time: Saving his brother, who almost died from a phase pulse infection (Sabrin essentially did all the proper first-response stuff and kept him awake until help arrived; he was 14 at the time).
Most Crucial Experience: See above
Role Model: Roan, his older brother for being strong, protective and being his big brother in general. And, of course, the deceased Dr. McCoy.
