Personal History
Gaurav was born on the 15th of June in a Vulcan medical facility. His mother wanted him to be named “Gaurav”, which was an ancient Sanskrit word for “respected one”. It was clear since the very beginning that Gaurav was interested in Science. He broke open his father’s PADD when he was four years old to see what was inside. When he was ten years old, he won the annual science fair at his educational institute.
Gaurav did not go outside the house much and consequently did not have any friends: only acquaintances. Ever since he reached the age of ten, a conflict began in his mind. On one side, his Human part urged him to express his emotions and submit to them. On the other side was his Vulcan part, telling him to embrace logic. This proved to be the cause of many fights with his mother, as the internal conflict often made him irritable. It also adversely affected his performance at school.
At age fifteen, Gaurav finally found a solution to his mental conflict. He decided to respect both the Vulcan part and the Human part. He would embrace logic in all circumstances, so that he would be able to keep himself under control when the needs of the situation demanded. But, at the same time, he would listen to his intuition and instinct and would not completely purge his emotions, as they might prove to be a valuable ally when logic fails. When he resolved his mental conflict, he was able to completely master the Vulcan mind meld ability.
After the age of fifteen, his life went on much smoothly. He was able to excel in his studies, as he kept his mind in perfect balance. He also started to exercise every day, to keep his body in shape. At age 16, he was married to a Vulcan female, T’Starla, whom he knew almost nothing about. The marriage was only to satisfy the blood lust experienced by all Vulcans during the Pon Farr
During his time in the Academy, he built his very own self-sustaining ecosystem, with two shrimp in it. The ecosystem had its own plant life, which sustained all life in the system. At the age of 25, he experienced his first Pon Farr. It was a terrifying experience, and his mother, who was visiting him at the Academy at that time, immediately took him back to Vulcan. Gaurav had a small amount of control over his faculties, as he was part human, but his blood lust still needed to be satisfied, or else he would have been dead. At Vulcan, he was able to satisfy his blood lust by mating with T’Starla.
An important point in his life was when he mind melded with a dying man. He had accompanied his mother to a medical facility, as she had developed some kind of rash. There, as he sat waiting for his mother’s check-up to get completed, he saw a man in agony lying on a bed in a nearby room. He went to the man to comfort him. When he looked at the man’s sunken and sad eyes, his hands moved to the man’s face of their own accord. When he mind melded with the man, he felt all of the man’s pain and fear of dying. After a few moments, he could feel the man’s life slipping away, solely, into darkness. This event influenced his life greatly and gave him a new perspective of life.
