Tekna is a Federation mining planet, rich in high-demand heavy metals.
Throughout the years, the controller of this planet had gone back and forth, but it became a Federation planet officially after the Dominion War.
Full scale mining began shortly after it became an official Federation member, and has since has yielded high profits for the Federation. Currently, it is home to over 5 million people.
Tekna is known for its large deposits of dilithium, platinum, gold, quartz, latinum, and a variety of other metals and minerals.
- The extent of these deposits, however, was only approximately 40% determined from surveys done on the planet.
