Personal History

Jacob, Jake to his friends and family, was born into a traditional Jewish family where he was immersed in his ancestor’s customs and culture. It was evident from an early age that he was naturally a curious and bright child. Recognizing this, his parents worked to foster their son’s gifts and talents through advanced academic curriculum and learning. He had a happy childhood; enjoying spending time and growing up with his family at their home on the lake.

Along with his intellectual gifts, Jake was strikingly handsome and caught the eyes of many teenage girls. It was at his Bar Mitzvah that Jake realized that his sexual interests were not in the girls smiling at him, but rather in the boys standing next to them. He would conceal his sexual orientation until his senior year of high school.

In addition to excelling academically in school, Jake was a good athlete. He was a starter on the varsity soccer and handball teams. A defining moment in his life came during the start of his senior year of high school when he came out to his family and friends. Afraid that he would be rejected and shunned, he was surprised and happy when the opposite happened. He was met by love and acceptance from his family and friends. There were a few who ridiculed him, but this small minority was soon drowned out by those who cared about and for Jake.

After high school, Jake decided to attend the University in Tel Aviv. Away from home, he enjoyed an independence and freedom that he had never had before. Jake did well in his classes and proved also to be a very social animal, having many lovers and being one never to turn down a party. During this time, he didn't care much about his future or even a major which was a great disappointment and concern to his parents.

Finally during his junior year, Jake decided that he enjoyed the sciences and his favorite professor suggested he should go into medicine. Taking this to heart, he took the MCAT and almost made a perfect score. After graduating the university with a Bachelor of Science degree, Jake applied to and was accepted to New Jerusalem Medical School.

Six years later Jake was a doctor doing his residency when a colleague suggested that he join Star Fleet. His colleague explained that due to recent conflicts, Star Fleet was in need of qualified doctors. Looking for something different and interesting , the twenty-seven year old decided to go to San Francisco and attend Star Fleet Academy.

Already a doctor, Jake focused on the core requirements for becoming a Star Fleet Officer while at the Academy but still continued to hone his medical skills from the Academy Medical School.

Upon graduation, Jake was assigned to his first ship. He now looked toward the stars to continue his career in medicine.
