Personal History

Born in the capital city on the Betazoid homeworld, Kaleesh Tarel grew up in a busy family along with his brother and sister. Their parents had high expectations for the children to become influential in Betazed society and cultured them to study hard. Two of the three offspring qualified for Star Fleet and the third, Kaleesh's older brother Jaylar looked to have a promising career in politics. Faral and Saren Tarel were disappointed with twins Kaleesh and Tersia's determination to leave the homeworld and explore the Galaxy. Both twins trained hard and were accepted into Star Fleet Academy. Tersia chose a career specifically in Quantum Mechanics while Kaleesh preferred to keep his options more open within the fields of science and medicine.

Kaleesh and Tersia enjoy a particularly close relationship, being not only telepathic but also twins. Both siblings seem to know when the other is nearby and their mood. While this can be comforting it can also bring too much information for individuals trying to live independant lives. The two of them keep in frequent contact while serving in different parts of the Galaxy, more so than either of them do with their parents. Their relationship with their older brother has always been more removed, and Jaylar on occasion resents the bond the twins have between them. With their parents disapproval of careers in Star Fleet, they focus their attentions on Jaylar and his political career on Betazed.

Kaleesh is a polite and friendly soul, very curious and interested in learning new subjects and about new places and cultures. He is keen to make new friends and is very loyal to those he has.

Brought up to appreciate the value of a healthy mind and body, Kaleesh enjoys physical sports and activities such as self defence as well as studying history and practicing meditation and exercising his telepathic abilities. His main weaknesses prior to joining Star Fleet included occasionally focusing so hard on the minutiae of a task to the detriment of the bigger picture, and dislike of people and situations that threaten to break his concentration. He recognises these problems in himself and endeavours to overcome them a little more as each year passes.
