Personal History

Stovon was born on a Vulcan/Human colony. There he began the standard Vulcan training typical of all Vulcan children. At the age of six, he was on vacation on Earth with his parents and grandfather when Donovon and T'Pren died in a climbing accident. His parents' instructions were for him to be raised by his paternal grandfather should anything happen to both of them (both were former Star Fleet officers). After his parents' death Stovon attempted to use what Vulcan training he had in order to suppress his emotions. His grandfather sought the aid of a Betazoid counselor to help him through the turmoil. Things came to a head when Stovon had a violent outburst towards a school-mate who teased him constantly - Gil Brown. After that event Stovon and Gil became best friends and have maintained their friendship over the years. Taking the advice of his grandfather and against the counselor's judgment, Stovon tried to combine the Vulcan philosophies of logic and and his human emotions - to be his own person. Stovon has only recently met some of his mother's family, during a recent trip to Vulcan. They were opposed to his mother entering Star Fleet and very much opposed to her marrying a human. As a result Stovon had no contact with them until after his own graduation from Star Fleet Academy

After graduating at the top of his high school class and Stovon took a job for an Earth-based interplanetary shipping company, hoping to become a pilot. There, he spent 3 years as a cargo handler while quietly learning to pilot small spacecraft with the help of one of the shuttle pilots he worked with. Once his "extracurricular activities" and his skill as a pilot became known he spent 2 years piloting interplanetary courier shuttles and civilian versions of runabouts. During this time, Stovon's paternal grandfather died. Due to his long absences from home, Stovon felt that he would be unable to maintain his grandfather's farm and decided to sell it. He has regretted the decision ever since.

Due to his love of flying, and his new found skills as a pilot, Stovon joined Star Fleet to follow in his father's footsteps. There he focused on tactical training, putting his previous experience to work for him. He has since learned that his career choices more closely mirror his mother's.

After graduation Stovon was assigned to the Drake as a tactical officer just prior to the Viper incident. He served as the helm officer during that mission and the Drake's subsequent mission to Kessick IV.

During those missions Stovon learned that he had ben carrying his mother's katra unknowingly for most of his life. Upon returning to SBA after the Kessik mission, the situation resulted in Stovon leaving suddenly for Vulcan. Once there he contacted his mother's sister, T'Lyr, who tried to help him by taking him to Mount Seleya. The adepts were unable to assist in a meaningful way, and to date Stovon still carries T'Pren's katra. As a result he has gained the knowledge of her abilities, and has been learning to use the various mental disciplines.

The Drake's next assignment took Stovon to a crippled frieghter that had been attacked by Orion raiders. During this mission, he was made Acting Chief Tactical Officer. Upon returning to SBA, Stovon was promoted to Lieutenant Commander, and accepted a transfer, along with the rest of the Drake's crew to the Dauntless. He was also made CTO as a part of this move.

At the time of the transfer, Stovon became involved in a romance with the First Officer of the Dauntless, Cdr Alanna Treborn. The two had worked together on the Drake and had provided emotional support for one another during some trying events. Neither suspected that an attachment would occur, but both have seemed to fall into it naturally.

After said relationship began, the two found themselves and the rest of the Dauntless’ crew thrown into two back to back engagements that resulted in several casualties, Alanna being one of these in both cases. Stovon discovered at this time that one of the psychological effects of his early child-hood trauma is the inability to cope with being powerless to stop those around him from being hurt. After seeing Alanna severely injured, Stovon was unable to cope with the psychological stress that surfaced and began to withdraw.

Following the mission, Stovon turned to Vulcan and sought the counsel of his relatives there. Despite their advice otherwise, he began throwing himself into learning to control his emotions. During this time, he undertook his own personal kas wahn. During this adventure he broke his leg after falling down a sand dune. Stovon was rescued by his maternal grandfather who was working on an excavation of Te Vikraim ruins. It was the time spent with this grandfather that allowed Stovon to make the most use of his Vulcan abilities. Although, the help he recieved was given with reservation, as his grandfather agreed with T'Lyr that Stovon's best course lay elsewhere.

Upon his return to SBA from Vulcan, Stovon and Alanna decided that the problems encountered after their last mission, including Stovon's subsequent suppression of his emotions, combined with her reassignment as captain of the Drake made a continuing relationship impossible. Stovon has since thrown himself completely into learning to use his Vulcan mental abilities and putting into practice the knowledge he has gained from T’Pren.

The Dauntless' next mission again saw Stovon struggling with his emotions and trying to deal with not being able to help those around him. That mission ended with the ship's FO, Cdr Kathy Dega being injured severely. Stovon used that as an excuse to further suppress his emotions and found some temporary relief in doing so.

Following that mission, the Dauntless relaunched, this time with a new CO, RAdm Daniel Wueste. Stovon was reticent at first regarding his new CO, as it marked the first time in his career that he had a CO other than Cmdr Kinziri Jal. During that mission, Stovon recieved a head injury when he was thrown across the bridge. Once things had calmed down, he realized that he could no longer sense T'Pren's katra.

Stovon sought a medical leave, resigned his position of CTO and headed for Vulcan. There he spent time in consultation with the masters of Gol and the priestesses of Seleya. It was found that he still carried T'Pren's katra, and removal was no more an option now than it had been a few years before. At this time, however, Stovon continues to be unable to make direct contact with T'Pren, although he does retain much of her knowledge.

At the end of his medical leave, Stovon was surprised with an offer of a promotion and a move to a new ship, the USS Darwin, GEC-9000. He had known that the Dauntless would not be an option, but the coinciding promotion to Cdr and assignment as FO were a complete surprise. This assignment came with the return of Cmdr Jal to active duty.

On the Darwin's first mission, things were cut abruptly short and teh ship was forced to return to Starbase Charlie. Once there, Stovon was assigned as acting CO and later made CO. Emotionally, Stovon has returned to the advice first given to him by his paternal grandfather and his mother's family - he has sought to fully integrate his emotions with Vulcan disciplines and logic.

Following his first mission as the CO of the Darwin, Stovon and the Darwin's crew returned to SBC for shoreleave. After having been on shoreleave for a couple of weeks, Stovon was surprised to learn that the Darwin's crew had been reassigned throughout the 3EG and the Darwin was to return to Earth, ostensibly for decommisioning. To add to the surprise, Stovon's FO from the Darwin, the android New, was being reassigned to Earth. Stovon, himself, was reassigned to the USS Copernicus, GEC-9035 as CO.
