Located in orbit of Earth, this Immense-Class Starbase functions as the central hub for both civilian and Star Fleet vessels and personnel entering and leaving Sector 001. Starbase Alpha serves as Headquarters for the 1st Fleet, Battle Group Alpha-1. Therefore, while a hub of civilian activity, is still operated primarily as a military facility.
The 1st Fleet Commander has his primary office on SBA and the 1st Fleet Security Commander doubles as the Station CO. Additionally the CINC of Star Fleet has a fully staffed office aboard.
