Personal History

Early Life

Anya entered the world of the living in under a dark cloud. Her mother, for whom she was named, died during child birth. It was up to her father, Richard Solenfell to raise her. Anya spent much her time on their family farm in Georgia, which has been in their family for several centuries. Her childhood was one of privilege.

Anya rode horses from a young age. She participated in numerous competitions for horse riding and jumping. When she wasn’t riding or studying, Anya could be found playing with the neighborhood boys. She became something of a tomboy, much to her father’s displeasure.

Throughout her childhood, Anya had been fascinated with flying. She would often question her father about the work he did, how the ships he designed worked. At age 14 she obtained her pilot’s license, finally achieving her dream of flying. She had found her passion in life.

Star Fleet Academy

When she was 18, was accepted into Star Fleet Academy. Initially, she was torn between following in her father’s footsteps of aerospace engineering, and tactical flight control. Eventually she chose to double major in engineering and flight control operations. The federation was just beginning to use starfighters, and Anya hoped to position herself to be in the seat of one after graduation.

To help further her goal, she joined the Academy flight team. Although she was never selected to be flight-leader, she held the spot of first wing-man, the second in command of squadron.

Starbase Alpha

After graduation, her first assignment was to the defense squadron of Starbase Alpha. She found being close to Earth quite enjoyable, since she could regularly visit her father. During her time there, she became close to fellow squad-mate, pilot Josh Halland. They were a natural fit for each each other. After a year of dating they were set to be married at her family home earth, however fate had other ideas in store for them. Shortly before they could be married, Josh was killed when the Vipers attacked Starbase Alpha. Their squadron was launched to help fend off the attack. Josh was on Samantha’s wing as his Raptor was hit by a missile. The last time she saw him, he had his hand pressed against the canopy, towards her, followed by a consuming explosion. After the battle, Anya requested a transfer. She could no longer bear to stay in Earth orbit, where she would be in the space where he died.

USS Enterprise, CV-07

Her transfer order was approved, thought he destination was a complete surprise and tremendous honor. She was selected to join the crew of the USS Enterprise, the flagship of the first fleet, as the pilot of an A-1. Anya was overjoyed to have received such a prestigious assignment to Halo Squadron. She threw herself into her job with everything she had so that she would not have think about the loss of Josh. It was here that she met her best friend, Simon Hite, who would serve as the Combat Systems Operator for the A-1 Raider she piloted. The two became fast friends.

During her four years aboard the Enterprise, Anya participated in numerous conflicts, including the Second Romulan war and recapture of Sierra-18. As an A-1 pilot, she specialized in hitting hardened targets, where they would come under heavy fire. Under the tutelage of Paul Braggins, her flight-leader, she grew to be an excellent combat pilot.

Anya received a Gold Star for bravery when she dove her armored A-1 Raider in front of missile that had targeted her flight-leader’s damaged F-1 raptor. Her ship was severely damaged, and both she and Simon received purple hearts for their injuries. At the conclusion of the war, Anya received a promotion to Lieutenant.

Ticonderoga, CA-1471

A year later, Anya received a notice that she had been transferred while on shoreleave. The transfer orders did not list her new assignment. Believing that someone was trying to torpedo her career by taking her off the Enterprise, Anya planned to fight the transfer request. She considered the Enterprise to her be dream assignment and had no plans of leaving. It was Simon who talked some sense into her. Using his contacts in the personnel office, he found that the she had been transferred to the USS Ticonderoga under the command of Commodore Paul Braggins, a legend within the Star Fleet aviator community. While she was sad that Simon wouldn’t be coming with her, she was looking forward to her new life aboard the Tico.
