Personal History

Robert was born in Alabama to Martin and Camille Robinson. When he was about 4 years old, he and his parents move to Michigan for his father's job. There, he met a 6 year old Jason Simmons, who was the son of one of his father's friends. The two got along well, and when they had reached their teen years, became best friends and confidantes. When Robert was 13 years old, his parents were killed in a car accident. Instead of being let become a ward of the state, since he had no other relatives, the Simmons family took him in and adopted him. Out of gratitude, Robert eventually took their last name as his own.

When a financial crisis hit, he went with his now-brother Jason to work in the mines. Their, his adoptive uncle and a mutual friend of his and Jason's were killed in a mining accident. When Jason blamed himself for the incident, Robert was there to reassure him, and together, they came up with a system to prevent it from happening again. Robert, being the Engineer of the two, originated rough schematics that Jason's strategic mind was able to place and initiate the new system.

When Jason left for Starfleet, Robert continued to help around until one day, their father told him he should reach for his dreams. So, shortly after Jason started the Academy, Robert followed, starting in the Engineering field. However, nearly half way through the Academy, he realized that Engineering itself was not a real specialty, so he went on to practice many fields, including Science, and graduated as a Support Maintenance Engineer. He was assigned to Starbase Alpha, where he eventually achieved the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, and the position of Chief Maintenance Supervisor.

After hearing about his brother's promotion to Chief Tactical Officer, Robert decided that upon his return to Alpha, he wished to transfer over to the USS Sheridan. His transfer was quickly accepted, and he joined his brother aboard the Destroyer until Jason's transfer to the USS Ticonderoga.

Realizing that Support offered him little in the way of advancement, Robert's thoughts of taking a re-examination to switch back into the Engineering field quickly became a focus for him. After months of hard work and study, he took the re-examination and passed, scoring high enough to maintain his rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.

Return to Engineering, Department Head and the Krynar

With his recent reexamination complete, scoring high enough to retain the rank of Lieutenant (Junior Grade), Robert was assigned as an Engineer aboard the USS Chin’toka. He quickly got to work in helping with a recent experimental weapon for use against the Krynar. It was a graviton weapon.

Tests caused some initial issues, the biggest was the injury and decommission of the Chief Engineer, Commander Chiron Hunter. After a while with no Department Head, it was discovered that Robert was the Senior-most Officer, and was so granted the position as Acting Chief Engineer.

After their mission, they had a small promotion party, in which it was discovered that, due to the trauma of his injuries, Commander Hunter stepped down as the Chief Engineer. Robert was offered the full position as Chief Engineer, which he gladly took. However, shore leave would be cut short with a Krynar invasion of the Sol System.

The Chin’toka quickly made haste to rendezvous with the other ships who would be engaging the Krynar. During the return journey, there was an odd occurrence, in which Captain Gagarin was replaced on the Bridge by Captain Yvette. This caused some confusion, during which time Commander Codey took the position as Acting Captain until the situation was resolved.

The Chin’toka then engaged a Krynar mothership with the graviton weapon and destroyed it. The ship then made for Denobula, but was taken over by Command after the recent debacle, who replaced most of the Senior Staff excluding Robert until the issue was resolved.

Left Turn and Promotion

After the incident upon which most of the Senior Staff had been relieved, the crew was able to take shore leave. The issue was resolved, and the Chin’toka crew found itself again under the Command of Captain Gagarin.

With the upcoming mission, which was to join the rest of the Fleet for probable engagement with the Krynar, Robert was able to work closely with the Engineering flotilla that had accompanied the Chin’toka in order to build a transwarp gate from Delta to Alpha. However, there was a miscalculation in the jump, and the flotilla found itself in the Magellanic Cloud, which was 100 lightyears away from their intended destination.

Robert, along with the Chin’toka’s CTO, Erigneis, went over to the Miami to help with further construction. It was during their time aboard that a comet was detected heading in a collision course with the transwarp gate that was under construction. Coordinating with the Chin’toka, they were able to tractor the gate out of the comet’s trajectory.

But then the trajectory shifted again. Robert and Lieutenant Erigneis beamed back over to the Chin’toka and met up with an Away Team in the Shuttle Bay to investigate the comet. In an attempt to move it, it was revealed to be some sort of alien ship. The ship attacked the shuttle, and the shuttle was forced to head towards the nebula in order to escape.

Soon after, the Chin’toka was able to rescue them, and the transwarp gate was complete. After running tests, the Chin’toka was able to return to Starbase. They were informed of the end of the Krynar threat and granted shore leave. They held a promotions ceremony with a Roaring 20s theme, in which Robert received a Starfleet Commendation Medal and promotion to full Lieutenant.

Learning he was a full Lieutenant opened up doorways for Robert, and he immediately set about preparing to take the Command Course, as the next mission loomed ahead.
