Personal History

Alexia was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia to Kyle and Rose Simmons who still run the family fruit farm. She had a happy childhood learning not only how to help her parents out with the crops etc, but also from spending a lot of time with her older brother Caleb and her best friend Jenna who she met at school. When she wasn't doing chores they would tinker with old vehicles, putting them back together and racing each other.

As she got older, this love of racing and tinkering with machinery continued and whilst she excelled at school, her real passion was getting to take part in local races that celebrated old ground vehicles and winning her first one when she was 17. Then when she was 18 almost lost her life after the race conditions became unsafe and she lost control and crashed in a ravine. Her confidence was knocked and even though she recovered regretted not being able to take race in her dream race that was held to encourage Interplanetary cooperation and meeting new races. Her brother still went ahead and took part and Alexia vowed that one day she would make it out into space. That was soon realised when she decided to apply for Star Fleet training as enlisted crew, which caused a slight rift with her parents who wanted her to stay at the farm especially after Caleb had left to become a Doctor. But Alexia went ahead and did it anyway feeling she was doing the right thing and following her destiny.

The years that followed were hard for Alexia and was definitely out of her comfort zone not having her brother and best friend with her all the time and learning about starship technology. She became withdrawn and shy only making a few friends during basic training, but ploughed on and became an enlisted crew, which led to a reunion with her parents.

She continued her training as a crewman recruit and crewman apprentice, and spent some time learning how to pilot a shuttle, thinking it would come in useful when she started her first assignment on Starbase 85 and loved being out amongst the stars. All the time tinkering with machinery in her youth enabled her to excel at many hands on engineering tasks and she was promoted to Crewman and assigned to the Copernicus.
