A Satarran's disguise is revealed.

The Satarrans are a humanoid civilization from the planet Sothis III.

Physiology

Satarrans are dark in color as their bodies are covered with scaley plates that are almost exoskeletal in nature.
They are roughly humanoid, with stocky torsos and long arms, legs, and fingers.

Their eyes are located on the front of their faces, but are also slightly to the sides, affording a view almost directly behind them. They have no noses; only two nostrils where the nose of a humanoid typically is. They have no visible ears and a small mouth. Instead of teeth, they have shiny black mandibles, and when open their mouths seem to stretch larger than they should.
Their speech is a form of hissing and squealing.

Technology

The Satarrans are not as technologically advanced as the Federation. However, they do possess at least two unique technologies that are beyond what the Federation has created. The first is a scanning beam that can blank memories via brain chemistry and manipulate the computers memory. The second is a device used for disguises. It cloaks the Satarrans true body both visually and from sensors. It will project a false image as well as false sensor readings that can "fool" even an advanced scan.

History

The Satarrans have been at war with the Lysian Alliance for decades. In 2368, the Satarrans attempted to use the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D to deliver a devastating attack on the Lysians. They used their scanning beam technology to wipe the memories of the crew and plant false orders in the computer from Star Fleet Command that indicated that the Enterprise was to destroy the Lysian headquarters. An operative known as Keiran MacDuff was placed onboard as First Officer in the disguise of a Human.

The Satarrans' plan ultimately failed as the crew realized the Lysians posed no threat to the Federation. MacDuff's true nature was discovered. This was the first time the Federation came in contact with the Satarrans.
