From a young age, Elyzabeth had taken an interest healing others, despite the fact it wasn’t the anticipated path her parents had originally envisioned for her. Luckily for her, they went out of their way to make sure the education she received would be the highest quality. Elyzabeth would be forging her own path, and was receiving every morsel of assistance she could ask for.
The biggest shock was when Elyzabeth opted to join Starfleet for her medical training, as opposed to an education institute for her medical training. When her parents switched focus to better preparing Elyzabeth for a career in medicine they’d expected her to end up opening her own practice. While that would end up being a goal for her one day, Elyzabeth believed Starfleet offered her a chance to receive a more exotic medical experience that she could use later in her medical career. She would’ve been a fool to go anywhere else.
During her time at the Academy, Elyzabeth experienced a mixed bag of emotions during her early training. While she’d exceled during the medical portions of her training, everything else seemed to be a weak link for her. Despite her initial poor performance in the first year basic departmental cross-training, Elyzabeth managed to squeak by and get into the deep end of medical training. When her four years of grueling training was over, Elyzabeth could call herself both a Doctor and a Starfleet Officer.
Her first assignment out of the Academy was the Charon. Despite the ship itself going through a rocky patch, where some of the crew even felt as though the ship had been cursed, Elyzabeth did pretty decent for herself. Through all of her hard work and dedication, Elyzabeth had managed to earn a promotion to Ensign.
Working on gamma shift, Elyzabeth didn’t see the most action that could put her medical skills to the test. During the Charon’s mission to Vinex III, Elyzabeth found herself working along Lieutenant Troy when they had to help Crewman Steitz. Even though she’d been able to mend the physical issues of the Antican altering his diet, to better fit in with his shipmates, that was the limit of what Elyzabeth could solve. Despite being a Betazoid, Elyzabeth had never once wished to go down a counseling route.
With her career looking good, Elyzabeth wished for an opportunity to expand her horizons even further. Even though it was hard to depart the Charon, when an opportunity for a transfer presented itself she pounced. The orders had been cut for her to travel to Deep Space 9 to await the arrival of her new assignment. When the day arrived, Elyzabeth hadn’t expected what she’d see. The newly recommissioned Aquila was her new posting. It was a little daunting to share in the medical responsibility of almost a thousand Starfleet and civilians, but Elyzabeth believed she was up to the task.
Academy Major(s): Medical
Academy Minor(s): Surgical (Both Humanoid & Non-Humanoid)
Hobbies and Pastimes: Whenever there’s an opportunity for a night clubbing adventure, Elyzabeth is the first to jump onboard. She believes it helps counteract the harsh realities of being a Doctor.
Short-Term Goals: Elyzabeth hopes to eventually round out her non-medical abilities onboard ship.
Long-Term Goals: Upon retiring from Starfleet, Elyzabeth plans on opening her own medical clinic.
Personality: Elyzabeth considers herself a bubbly person.
Sense of Humor: Given her work as a Doctor, Elyzabeth tends to find humor anyway she can (even if it might be a tad unusual).
Phobias: One of the greatest fears Elyzabeth has is that she’s going to mess up and cost the life of someone she’s attempting to save.
Likes: Elyzabeth likes and takes pride in every life she has made better via her medical skills, even before she picked up a scalpel.
Dislikes: Since joining Starfleet, the one thing that Elyzabeth has come to dislike is all of the politics that have come with being apart of the service.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Anyone who disregards their medical health. While it would potentially put her out of a job, she’d rather take that risk if it meant her services wouldn’t be required.
Bad Habits or Vices: Coffee, Elyzabeth could down gallons of the stuff to keep herself moving.
Achievements: Other than graduating near the top of her classes, Elyzabeth hasn’t done much to particularly stand out.
Disappointments: Realizing that Starfleet wasn’t exactly all it was cracked up to be because of political reasons, but Elyzabeth does her best to push through.
Illnesses: Elyzabeth hasn’t been affected by anything more than any childhood illnesses that Betazoid get.
Strengths: Elyzabeth has the will to do whatever comes her way. Even if she fails, she considers the fact she was willing to try her greatest strength.
Weaknesses: Can be a ‘tad’ addicted to coffee.
Fears: Elyzabeth fears losing a patient on the operating table, presumably like she believes every other doctor thinks. She’s even more fearful that the loss will be because of her.
Prejudices: Despite the fact most Betazoids take oaths to not read an individual thoughts without permission, Elyzabeth has run into a fair number of people that believe it’s something she does. Especially considering the fact that she didn’t go into the counseling field, she get irritated by the assumptions.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Wears comfortable flowing sundresses while off-duty
Distinguishing Features: Elyzabeth doesn’t have much that makes her stand out from a crowd
Friends: Elyzabeth has several friends, but considering she’s nothing but friendly she hates trying to settle down on labeling someone her best friend.
Personal Paradigm Shifts
Most Painful Experience: There hasn’t been anything that’s happened to Elyzabeth that she considers painful, as of yet. The closest she’s come with her parents initial disapproval of her joining the military as opposed to going into the private sector.
Best Time: Elyzabeth’s best experience was forging her own path in life.
Most Crucial Experience: Upon entering Starfleet Academy, Elyzabeth learned that she’d have to rely on more than her medical skills. It’s something that she tries to improve on everyday.
Role Model: Elyzabeth looks up towards both of her parents, even if they can be slightly smothering at times.
