Personal History

T’Prell was born to a Bajoran mother and a Vulcan father, having met while her mother was part of a Bajoran delegation stationed on Vulcan. It was Sallea, Morra’s unapologetic free spiritedness as well as her quite disciplined non-Vulcan mind that had attracted him (not to say that her voluptuous, yet toned figure and pretty face hadn’t added positively to the entire package, would be disingenuous).

Being half-Vulcan and being raised under Vulcan’s greater gravity, the infant to child grew in the way of Vulcanoids, lithe, yet physically strong (as compared to human norms) and capable of simultaneous brain processes…that was, until her seventh (Earth calendar) year…

During her seventh year of life, T’Prell’s mother desired an end to her marriage to her father and thus insisted on the koon-ut-kal-if-fee in order to free her from the marriage. Sallea, Morra had selected an enigmatic, and physically, very muscular/powerful Vulcan suitor named Subek to challenge her husband. Of course, the Logic of the situation escaped young T’Prell.

The spectacle of the solemn ceremony was at first intriguing and wondrous; the shimmering auditory of the bell carriers, the sonorous thunder of the elongated hexagonal gong…as well as the initial combat between her father and Subek…the lirpas with their wide swinging arcs of potential injury or death, via vicious slicing and crushing blows…

…and then dawning horror of finality, as the ahn'woon were swung and released…bola-like capture and then final death by asphyxiation…Subek was the victor.

After the post koon-ut-kal-if-fee trauma and suppression of her strongest negative emotions, T’Prell spent the next seven years of her life focusing on physical and martial prowess and totally rejecting any mind-meld contact, let alone training; where about half of her multi-tasking brain activities diminished from her childhood, yet she discovered that she could excel at mathematics and formulae while engaged in rigorous exercise. Even at T’Prell’s young age of 14, she knew that she could be patient; her mother was growing ever older (perhaps not fast enough for T’Prell’s thinking) and Subek would remain young (relatively speaking) as her mother would age and then die as an old, used up, shriveled murderess. Perhaps, T’Prell thought, that letting her mother live, Subek would tire of her eventually, and T’Prell could then end Subek’s life.

As events in life often happen in ways one cannot expect, T’Prell, just a few weeks past her 14th birthday, was unexpectedly shipped off to Bajor to visit her maternal Grandparents. It would be years later that T’Prell would find out that her mother was one, sick and tired of having her daughter mope around and harbor ill will to both her and her Subek, and two, her mother thought that her daughter should get to know her Bajoran roots, and thus Sallea, Morra arranged for starship travel and sent T’Prell to her maternal grandparents on Bajor.

It was that initial voyage, from Vulcan to Bajor that got T’Prell to think about the greater worlds and peoples around Federation Space and her nearby galactic civilizations, whether they be adversaries, enemies or neutral. Of fascinating note, while the vessel was a commercial ship, several Starfleet personnel were aboard. The Starfleeters had this strange dichotomy…they seemed part of, and yet apart (or aloof) from the rest of the humanoids. T’Prell could sense that these were special people, certainly a cut above the ordinary…she wondered if she could ever grow up and to become someone like that. During the trip, after reading a delightful story called ‘Alice In Wonderland’ she began writing short, ‘doodles’…sentence fragments and nonsense verses for the sheer joy of expression. For the 1st time since her mother’s betrayal of her father…T’Prell smiled.

Once on Bajor and setup in her Grandparents residence (just outside of Jalanda City), it became all too apparent that Bajor culture and spiritualty were virtually one and the same…this spiritualty and reverence and devotion to and for The Prophets seemed just as similar to Vulcan and its adherence to Logic and staid traditions (the whole koon-ut-kal-if-fee ritual seemed a dated, incongruous throwback to a people that professed peace and acceptance amongst the galactic cultures). It was this point where T’Prell took on her mother’s family name Sallea, T’Prell.

Sallea, T’Prell finished her 1st year of secondary education and during the break between starting the 2nd year, a most wondrous event occurred, a starship from Earth arrived with a handful of ‘High School’ marching bands, to put on a ‘late summer show’ before the Terran students (albeit most were human, there were a few non-humans) started their new school year. Sallea, T’Prell saw the first shows on holovids, and because of her enthusiasm, her Grandparents let her see a live performance…this led to two things…she would learn music, and her focus would be on the largest of the brass instruments; that one that coiled around the performer and opened in a great wide conical bell above them…the sousaphone; the second thing was, she wanted to go to Earth…desperately…

Sallea, T’Prell, now 15 years old, had nearly reached her adult full height and was already well muscled, lifting weights equivalent to the strongest of human males. During the final marching band performance, T’Prell made her way to staging area in order to get a close up view of the Terrans and their beautiful instruments. She was given strange looks, but mostly the humans either ignored her or pointed at her and seemed rather amused at her (presumed bulked) appearance. T’Prell took their actions in stride, but then heard a commotion near one of the transport vehicles; shouts and taunts mostly. T’Prell trotted to the source and the scene opened up with a large group students forming a tight circle, but large enough for two teen boys in the center, to warily bob and weave. It was a fight…and as T’Prell looked quickly around, not an adult chaperone was in sight.

Sallea, T’Prell without further thought, waded in through the sadistic, howling throng, shoving humans away in order to stop the melee. However, her actions had the effect of escalating the melee and she became one of the combatants. Soon, she was dogpiled by a handful students, but managed to end the fighting with one massive heave ho. Of course was called in to get disciplined, but Teddy Brandon, (one of the original combatants), stood up for her, and a close (if all too brief) friendship developed. Fortunately, Sallea, T’Prell’s grandparents had sufficient means, contacts, love and understanding for their granddaughter, that a week later she was off to Earth and would continue her high school studies on the human home world.

At age 18, Sallea, T’Prell’s high marks (in physical education/sports and math/science) from high school (the Mighty Jaguars of North Dallas, Texas), gave her entrance to apply for Star Fleet Academy; which she was accepted on the first try. Teddy and she had become like siblings, and it was difficult for her to have such a significant separation from him; especially as she was headed to Star Fleet Academy, and Teddy was going into journalism. They promised to keep in touch as life and events would allow. T’Prell had also picked up some Texan ‘drawl’ and speech patterns during her time there.

Her Department major was Security and for three years, that was her goal, to become a Security Officer onboard a Star Fleet vessel. On a break between third year and fourth year, T’Prell returned to Bajor to visit her Grandparents. One evening, on a balcony looking up to the stars, T’Prell pointed out the bright star-like spec that was Star Base Charlie to her elders, and then all of the sudden, the bright jewel vanished…accompanied by an intense, if fleeting, feeling of déjà vu, or doom. It would be days later before any information regarding the disappearance of SBC (and the 3rd Fleet) was disseminated, and weeks later before it became known that SBC and its fleet were destroyed by a new enemy species incursion, and that the Prophets (or the worm-hole-aliens as Star Fleet prefers to call them) had temporally moved the entirety of planet Bajor some two years into the future.

While the official line, merely mentions Bajor was removed from the direct line of fire of the enemy (The Inquisition attackers), stories were told that Bajor had been destroyed in the attack just after SBC was destroyed…and even more fantastical stories state that Earth too, had been destroyed…but of course, Earth was just fine. During an exceptionally aggressive workout, bench pressing 500 kilos, the Vulcan part of her brain began to calculate and estimate what had happened…there had to have been a temporal recursion…someone or some thing (or a plurality of same) had altered the Space-Time reality trajectory and produced a new reality…her déjà vu moment was her both her death and rebirth.

The ramifications were staggering and T’Prell had to learn all that she could about it. Upon re-integration back into the Academy (she had after all been displaced temporally by two years), she changed her Department major to Science and specialized in temporal mechanics. The class instructor was smallest adult Vulcan T’Prell had ever seen, Lieutenant Sring. Due to the two year interruption/temporal displacement in her studies, and the lengthy time and vetting that temporal studies mandates, Sallea, T’Prell was awarded the rank of Ensign upon her Academy graduation.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Temporal Mechanics
Academy Minor(s): General Security Procedures, General Science
Hobbies and Pastimes: Muscle building and maintenance; tuba and sousaphone playing; writing poetry, listening to music
Short-Term Goals: To exceed the expectations of her superior officers and colleagues in the Science Department; to prove to herself that she made the correct career choice. To be of actual value should the ship encounter temporal (or other exotic Space-Time) phenomena.
Long-Term Goals: To reach the rank of Lieutenant, demonstrate to herself that she can lead others (such as a Science Team), compile plenty of field experiences
Personality: Serious, studious, compassionate to those less fortunate then herself, gets along in a team setting, has long fuse (and then POW!)
Sense of Humor: Under development, tends to smile at jokes and answers to riddles, as opposed to really laugh
Phobias: None
Likes: meat, fish and poultry (or reasonable facsimiles thereof), eggnog, red wines, olive oil, most Terran music forms, gym training, the color blue, adult males with a slender build
Dislikes: deceitfulness, bullies, those who look down on others, gladiator-like sports, the color green (not including her own skin pigmentation or blood color), fizzy drinks, creamy sauces, holo-decks/suites (it’s just not real)
Pet Peeves or Gripes: People who really like/use/abuse holodecks too much, otherwise none of significance
Bad Habits or Vices: none that she is aware of
Achievements: Acceptance into Temporal Mechanics study at the Academy (leading to thoughts of ‘what if…she could go back in time and save her father’), Honor band selection – tuba; runner up twice in body building competitions
Disappointments: Hoping that she would feel something substantially spiritual upon her initial arrival on Bajor, but feeling nothing (this would change upon a visit to Bajor just before her 4th year at the Academy, just prior to the Inquisition invasion, where the Prophets ‘saved’ the home-world)

Her biological father – for not being strong/skilled enough to survive (see Personal History for details).
Illnesses: None
Strengths: Physically, she is quite strong, can take a large amount of melee punishment, quite adept with Vulcan melee weapons: lirpa and ahn'woon, and the Terran broadsword and shield
Weaknesses: her ‘buttons’ can be pressed somewhat easily, suppressed anger, feelings of getting revenge on her mother and ‘step-father’
Fears: not being physically or mentally strong enough during life’s most challenging encounters
Prejudices: None
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Denim pants, tank-tops
Distinguishing Features: Very (man-like) muscular build, typical Bajoran nose ridges, nominally pointed ears
Pets: None
Friends: Theodore “Teddy” Brandon

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: The death of her father via the koon-ut-kal-if-fee mating combat (see Personal History for details).
Best Time: Basically, her high school years on Earth (first love, first kiss, Senior Ball, band performances, graduation, acceptance into Star Fleet Academy)
Most Crucial Experience: One - Partly her father’s death, essentially master minded by her mother, and then the constant torment and ridicule by her school aged peers which was accompanied by many fights, and indifference and supreme arrogance by the adults. T’Prell was made to feel like she was less than nothing and deserving of such scorn and unrelenting malice. It appeared the Bajoran-Vulcan hybrid most illogical. Not only did T’Prell hate her mother for her actions, she also hated her father for not being strong enough to win the koon-ut-kal-if-fee challenge. This emotion however, was suppressed and channeled, so that the girl began to do everything in her power to gain her physical strength (to be strong enough) and martial skills so that one day she would exact revenge upon Subek (battle him to the death) and then to relish in her mother’s sorrow.

Two - The déjà vu and feelings of doom as Bajor was temporally moved through Space-Time (described within Personal History).
Role Model: Initially, three unidentified Star Fleet personnel (probably junior officers) one each sporting red, gold and blue Division colors.

Others would include: The Emissary, Star Fleet Captain Benjamin Sisko and numerous other Star Fleet notable Captains and Admirals, who safe guarded Federation from her enemies and threats. And way back 300 years plus on Earth, Malala Yousafzai stood up for women’s rights in a region where male zealots feared wise and educated girls; Nelson Mandela demonstrated forgiveness in keeping the South Africa region from becoming a bloodbath, and ~ 50 years before that, Rosa Parks and Dr. King protested the injustice of segregation and worse horrors, merely due to differences in skin color.
