Personal History

Born to a farmer and his wife, Rok grew up on the farmstead, where he taught himself how to fire a weapon from warding off thieves and hunting animals with his father’s rifle. Despite his size and speed, Rok can shoot an acorn off a tree from 150 yards without scorching the tree itself. As he grew older, he took a liking to wielding two phaser-rifles at a time, one in each hand.

Despite these seemingly-violent hobbies, Rok also thrived academically, specialising in law and philosophy, the second of which he tends to keep to himself.

A Brikarian soldier from an early age, Rok was already a Commander by the time the infamously short-lived Brikar-Federation War took place. His endeavours in the war were thought to almost win the Brikars their key battles, but victory was never to be, as the Federation won the war in a matter of weeks.

Still honoured as a war-time hero by his people, Brikar consider himself outcast now that he’s joined Star Fleet, not sure how his race would react to knowing how easily he’s seemingly switched sides, allies or not.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Starship Security.
Academy Minor(s): Philosophy, Politics, Law, Marksmanship.
Hobbies and Pastimes: Rok enjoys relaxing in his quarters, which has been readjusted to synthesize the gravity on the planet Brikar. Here, he tends to his zen and botanical gardens.
Short-Term Goals: To prove that his size does not get in the way of him being an asset to any team.
Long-Term Goals: To command a starship of his own (if only to get a personally-tailored Captain’s Chair).
Personality: Like most Brikars, Rok is quiet and seemingly stoic. This illusion is quickly dispelled when he warms to someone, quickly falling into a quick-witted, jesting attitude.
Sense of Humor: Sharp and quick.
Phobias: That his gravity compensator break, rendering him grounded and motionless – to Rok, it’s like claustrophobia no matter where he is.
Likes: A challenge, especially in his superior officers.
Dislikes: Being stereotyped as a big, dumb rock.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: When he gets injured.
Bad Habits or Vices: Takes his near-invulnerability to all energy weapons for granted, becoming hot-headed and ‘commando’ charging into battle without a care for his own safety.
Achievements: Graduating from Star Fleet Academy, especially with all the heat he was getting from fellow students (and some instructors) concerning his history.
Disappointments: None, he likes to think that – had he another chance in life – he’d do everything exactly the same.
Illnesses: Illnesses.
Strengths: Tremendously strong and hardy, practically invulnerable to all energy weapons unless at highest settings and continuously fired upon him. His height can also make him an imposing figure.
Weaknesses: Physically slow, and his height when trying to remain inconspicuous.
Fears: None (save for his Phobia); likes to think himself invincible.
Prejudices: Klingons.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Lose fitting robes, reminiscent of a monk.
Distinguishing Features: Insignia daubed onto his bare back from his war-days in the Brikar-Federation war, in which he played a pivotal role on the Brikar side.
Friends: None, somewhat quiet and secluded.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: Losing the Brikar-Federation war and – probably worse – realising that what he had been doing, patriotic or not, was wrong.
Best Time: Being accepted as a Star Fleet cadet, given his history. A fresh start in life.
Most Crucial Experience: The realisation that defeat by your enemies did not necessarily mean that they can never become your allies. This revelation came to him when the Federation were quick to offer the hand of friendship, shortly after the war.
Role Model: His captain back in the war, whose resolution and down-right commitment to what he believed was right for his people rubbed off on Rok, who now uses similar virtues as a security officer.
