Personal History

Ro’Thon Aereson and his fraternal twin brother were born at the Aereson citadel, home of clan Aereson, to Ro’Thack and Mer’than. The son of diplomats, Ro’Thon received exposure to the Federation from an early age when his mother was assigned as Mirak ambassador to the Federation. At age four, the family moved to Mirak Embassy on Earth. His childhood was splint between spending time on Earth and on Oranth. While on Earth, he studied engineering and physical science at some of the best prep schools in the Federation. During his time on Oranth, Ro’Thon was immersed in the culture and tradition of his people.

As a Leo Mirak, it was expected that Ro’Thon would take up the mantle of a Huntmaster and watch out for the well-being of his people, both spiritual and cultural. Although Ro’Thon could hear the calling of Great Hunt, he couldn’t shake the feeling that his true calling was elsewhere.

During what little free time he had, Ro’Thon enjoyed tinkering. While staying at the Embassy, he assembled a high performance repulsor craft, which he raced in less than legal heats through the streets of Tokyo. He was arrested shortly before his 17th birthday after a competitor clipped his speeder, causing it to crash. No charges were filed due to his diplomatic immunity, however the speeder was confiscated and he was warned that he would expelled from embassy should future incidents arise. Ro’Thon was sent back to the clan citadel shortly after as his parents felt that he needed to focus on preparing for the Trials of the Ko’Rathivor, which were less than six months away.

Back at the Citadel, the remaining time until the trials flew by. Ro’Thon successfully answered the questions posed to him by the Huntmaster, which ranged from academic knowledge to religious dogma. With the academic portion out of the way, they moved to the hunt. Ro’Thon was taken to the planes of Goura where to prove his capability as a hunter. He managed to bring down a Tareth using only a battle spear, and earning great honor. While performing the ritual to offer his kill to the honor of the great hunt, Ro’Thon experienced what he believed to be a vision from the Masters of the Great Hunt. In this vision, he saw himself wearing the armor of a warrior, not the mantle of Huntmaster. It severed to solidify his belief that his path lay elsewhere.

Follow the success of his Trials, Ro’Thon turned down a prominent position within in the religious leadership of Clan Aereson, making waves in the clan, and instead applied to the Academy of the Royal Navy. Despite how unusual it was for Leo Mirak to apply, Ro’Thon performance during his Trials earned him the honor of selecting his path.

Ro’Thon’s training at the Royal Academy was long and brutal. While he excelled at his academic course work, he found that he was at a disadvantage for not having grown up in Mirak society. He was physically strong, but lacked some of the fighting skills. What he lacked in skill, he made up for with cunning, often resorting to tricks. By the time Ro’Thon graduated, his combat skills, while not at the top of the class, exceeded the standards of the Academy. While at the Academy, Ro’Thon filed a petition to join the Aviation Corps, but he was denied entry due to his large size. He instead chose to focus on propulsion system design and battle systems engineering.

After graduation, Ro’Thon was assigned to the Tareth Fang, a carrier-classed assault vessel, where he found that he was in his element. It was clear that military service was where he beloved. His first assignment was serving as maintenance chief for flight of Saberwraith fighters. Ro’Thon realized a deficiency in his skill set when a Saberwraith, which had been damaged during combat operations against raiders, crashed during landing. Ro’Thon was one of the first to come to pilot’s aid, pulling him from the burning wreckage. Unfortunately, the pilot died before medical personnel could arrive on scene. As result, Ro’Thon underwent training in combat medicine to ensure that he would be ready should something like this happen again.

Two years into his military service, Ro’Thon was approached by his commanding officer about service in the officer exchange program. Since Ro’Thon had grown up with exposure to the Federation, he made an ideal candidate. He accepted, believing that this would help his standing within his clan. Aereson transferred to Star Fleet Academy to undergo basic courses in military policy before assignment to the USS Confederation.

Shortly thereafter, came the outbreak of the Third Romulan War, disgusted by the inaction and political infighting within the Mirk Star League, Ro’Thon applied for Federation citizenship and a full transition to Star Fleet. He is one of the few Mirak who serve in Star Fleet.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Warp Propulsion Engineering.
Academy Minor(s): Battle Systems Engineering.
Hobbies and Pastimes: Tinkering.
Short-Term Goals: Prove himself to his new commanding officer and gain the respect of his fellow crew.
Long-Term Goals: Design something that will bring honor to his clan, and to find a suitable mate.
Personality: Leo Mirak are generally very prideful. Since they serve as the religious leaders of their society, they tend to act as shepherds, constantly on the look for dangers to their flock. Ro’Thon is no exception. He is very protective of his friends and those under his care. His parents instilled within him the traditions of his people.
Sense of Humor: Ro’Thon enjoys jokes of all kind.
Phobias: Terran Clowns. Finds them to be creepy.
Likes: Mirak cooking... if you can call it cooking. Ro’Thon is a constant tinker. He also enjoys practicing hand-to-hand combat on the holodeck to improve his skill.
Dislikes: Klingon Opera, and cold baths.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Lying, boasting without being able to back up your claims.
Bad Habits or Vices: Can be a bit too pious. Has a tendency to hit the bottle too hard.
Achievements: Passed the Trials of the Ko’Rathivor with great honor.
Disappointments: that political infighting with the Mirak Star League forced him to leave the Royal Navy for the Federation.
Illnesses: Caught Ga’va’ka, or Hair Fever, from a visiting dignitary. Ga’va’ka causes all of a Mirak’s hair to fall out, bringing shame to him. It is uncommon for those bred between sub-species to contract. Fortunately, the condition is easily curable.
Strengths: Analytic mind and iron resolve.
Weaknesses: His pride. Ro’Thon can be goaded into rash action by insulting his honor.
Fears: That he will let down those around him and bring shake to his clan.
Prejudices: Does not like Klingons due to their history of war with Mirak.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: When off-duty, Ro’Thon can generally be found wearing loose fitting tactical type clothing common amongst the Royal Navy of the Mirak Star League. During religious occasions, he wears the robes of the Clan Aereson.
Distinguishing Features: Looks like a lion with silvery gray fur and a dark brown/black mane. Ro’Thon also has a long tail that ends in a black tuff of hair—the same color as his mane—that conceals a spur.
Pets: Mirak Saberwraith named Hor’Rath.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: The decision to leave the Royal Navy for Star Fleet.
Best Time: The days of his youth spent among his clan.
Most Crucial Experience: The day he made the decision to permanently join Star Fleet.
Role Model: Mi’Carr Aereson, of the founders of Clan Aereson. Mi’Carr went against the traditional grain his society to do what was right for his clan, and the Mirak as a while, for which he was executed. History would later restore honor to him and can Aereson.
